"comlay one" (communications relay number one) is the first successful attempt of any nation in unus solum to put a man-made satélite in space. having already the technology for solar panels, reaction wheels and high-gain antenae and little competition, the ESI (Enshawdian Space Initiative) decided that they would create a project that might return profit. as it is, Comlay one transmits radio broadcasts of various stations.

the ring begins in the exosphere, so inevitably the orbit will decay and the satélite will come crashing down. this, however, is not expected to happen until a few decades have passed.

because of the ring's presence it is impossible to safely put something in geo-stationary orbit, EUASI hopes to build a whole network of comlay satellites one day.
