A carrion crawler! They actually don't have any lethal attacks, but they can paralyze opponents with their tentacles (halflings tend to be ridiculously tough about spells and poison - which is why this guy is actually not affected!). That makes them a good choice for low level opponents, because they're nasty, but if things go wrong, there are plenty of ways players can still save their characters.
