Cute! He reminds me of my little boy Clover. He loves to snuggle with his "girlfriend" Piper.

I had Zephyr for five or six years before I adopted Calypso (Cally), and now I see I should have gotten two to begin with. They took some time to warm up to each other, but now they snuggle, groom each other, talk to each other, and my favorite--cuddle under the paper towels, hahaha. Parrotlets are so adorable!

OH, Zephyr is pretty old then, compared to my Clover. He is not even one year old. We got Piper as soon as she was weaned and they were best friends from the start.

Yeah, I think he's eight now, or somewhere around there. Still doesn't feel "old," seeing as my oldest cockatiel is seventeen or so now. Good luck with Clover and Piper!

Excuse me ^^ do you mind if I ask where you got your parrotlet from ? I've been looking into getting one, can't quite find a pet store that sells them and am currently searching breeders ^^

I got my boy, Zephyr, from Freeway's Parrotlets in Vacaville, and my female parrotlet Calypso came from a breeder in Sacramento who was stopping breeding. Parrotlets are great, I hope you find a nice one! They are much more common today than they were when I got Zephyr around seven years ago.

Ah I'm trying to
and thanks for responding ^_^ May I ask how much you paid for your parrotlets? I've been seeing a wide range of prices for even the wild type let alone the mutations lol.

No problem! Zephyr was $130-150, I think, but like I said parrotlets were rarer back then. I think Calypso was $70-80? Something like that. It does vary a lot. I do recommend buying from a breeder instead of a pet store if you can. You never know what conditions a pet store bird came from, and they could have genetic problems or health issues. Personally, I think either breeders or rescues are the way to go. At least in my area, I sometimes see people trying to rehome their parrotlets on Craigslist, so that might be somewhere to look as well.

Thanks ^_^ and yea I'm trying to find a breeder, there's only one pet store I would trust buying it from but they don't sell them, though I hope they will lol. Until then I shall continue the breeder search Thanks for the advice and help ^_^

Look up "parrotlet breeders" and you should be able to find a breeder in your area! They're very nice little birds.

Your welcome. I added you to our members list. We are just starting up and trying to get as many members as possible. If you don't mind, could you mention us to some of your bird-loving friends? It would be appreciated.
Thanks. I heard some lovebirds are quite mean if you don't spend almost all day with them. But I'm sure yours are very sweet.

Thanks! I will recommend you to anyone else I know with birds.
My lovebird is good, actually. He's a little scared still because he wasn't handled as much by his previous owner as I would have liked, but he doesn't bite at all and is a sweetheart. My parrotlet is the real rascal! I have a pair of cockatiels as well--they are very tame.
I'll submit photos to the group soon! I'm looking for a few more photos first.

Wow, you have a lot of birds. Must take awhile to give them all attention. Do they all get along, or do you have to give them seperate attention?

i am hoping to get a parrotlet soon! mom is a bit... hesitant... she loves my parakeets, they are hand tame, but parrotlets just have such awesome strong willed silly personalities!! i just NEED one of those stubborn little buggers >< i found a breeder 25 min. from me who hand feeds them and they arent too expensive so ive got my fingers crossed!

Parrotlets have strong personalities indeed! Good luck convincing your mom and hopefully getting one! Just be sure you have the time and space to devote to your little friend; parrotlets need a lot of attention and exercise to keep them happy.

i totally understand! I have 2 parakeets, and if you leave them without interaction for TWO DAYS (i went up to the mountains and left em home) i came back and they were afraid to be held again. my keets get 2 hours out of the cage on playstands a day, and usually 30 min. - half hour of interaction because after a while they get pissy and dont wanna be held any more. lol. thats why i want a parrotlet.

Oh my, he's just adorable ^^
my parrotlet is about 8 months old and I love her too bits She had her wings clipped when I got her, but now one side has completely grown back and her other is missing about 3/4 primaries. She always flies to my shoulder ^^

Oh, wonderful! I hope you have fun with your new parrotlet. They're really fun birds and have such personalities. Make sure he gets plenty of exercise, fresh food (like fruits and veggies), and attention. Good luck with both of your parrotlets!

oh yeah its pretty tuff business. i mean teo's pretty easy to handle. but momo is so moody i cant get her in my hands she's too nippy. but shes getting better. they do enjoy flying around my room though. teo got his wings clipped the day before he left the shop so he's having trouble keeping up with her.
