Bitches and gentlecunts, you’re all invited
To our Cirque de la Dépression
Our moms and dads are our VIP guests
In the Balcony Box of Repression
All of you crowd on this dilapidated dancefloor
And if you’re wondering just who we are
We’re uncredited extras on our last dollars
And this is our last cast
So dim the lights
We’re taking the chance you never gave
Let us (re)introduce ourselves
To your Brave New World Stage
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And our Brave New World isn’t here
We’re wrapped in claws like birthday presents
So come unwrap us if you dare
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And we weren’t born quite so grotesque
You threw us aside
Now our ragdoll ranks have grown
And we’re here again to
DEPRESS
We were born into your cages of conviction
And you condemned us as weeds in your yards
You taught us to avoid bright flashes of belt buckles
So we welcomed the dark with open arms
Our houses were erected on minefields
So our schools became safe fallout shops
Their fields were thronged with nettles and thistles
But at least there were no RAPEseed crops
We wear our hearts on our heads
And our Crown Jewels down under
Next to an invisible-inked arrow which says:
“GET IT HERE”
And when you led me into your concrete cave
You didn’t tell me it was flooded
Now I’m your apprehendice CORPse
With socialactites
Crown-of-thorning my head
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And our Brave New World isn’t here
We’re wrapped in claws like birthday presents
So come unwrap us if you dare
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And we weren’t born quite so grotesque
You threw us aside
Now our ragdoll ranks have grown
And we’re here again to
DEPRESS
It’s a HARD life for US
And we won’t GET HARD for YOU
It’s all for NAUGHT for US
And TWO NAUGHTS for YOU
So stop cajoling us
As we cower in
Our clawed corners
Away from your
Spotlights of
Prospects of
Big bucks to
Lay down in
Piles to
Rise from
Our graves
Which we dug
With your own
Bullshit-encRUSTED shovels
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And our Brave New World isn’t here
We’re wrapped in claws like birthday presents
So come unwrap us if you care
We’re the Disposable Social-Antis
And we never walked into this mess
You dropped us right in this shit
So don’t be surprised
When we drag you down with us and you’re one of the
REPRESSED DEPRESSED...
Singin' "Archangel, Dark Angel
Lend me Thy Light
Through Death's Veil until
We have Heaven in Sight.
Archangel, Dark Angel
Lend me Thy Light
Through Death's Veil until
We have Heaven in Sight.
Archangel, Dark Angel
Lend me Thy Light
Through Death's Veil until
We have Heaven in Sight.
Archangel, Dark Angel
Lend me Thy Light
Through Death's Veil until
We have Heaven in Sight."

I think... I was listening to Golden Age of Grotesque by Marilyn Manson, then I went back to this painting, and I had that tune playing in my head... so I started cramming all my thoughts of you in this painting into some botched up lyrics.
It seemed like a good idea at the time and... yeah...
I definitely feel the idea of hiding from the light very strongly. Eventually the claws form a cocoon around you, to protect you from your friends so they/you can't use and abuse you/them... yet at the same time, that cocoon suffocates you with the pain of your past and the present moment. It becomes a black screen for your nightmares to play themselves out over and over again, and again, and again, and again, and again...
And you're just sitting there wishing for someone to help you break out from all this, someone who you can really trust not to use you, abuse you or misunderstand and hurt you even more like everyone else... but because they might as well be anyone else, you can never bring yourself to trust them like that... and the grip from the claws grows ever tighter... it becomes easier simply to give yourself over to the pain... no resistance... no friction... easier simply to let the tidal wave rush over you than try to force yourself above it...
So, on behalf of everyone else here, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for fighting that feeling for so long. It gives the rest of us so much hope... and hope is a powerful weapon against the darkness and its suitors...

I do inquire why I am so fascinated with your art. I am fairly certain it is because through your art, I have learned that there is a time and place for sadness.

I find for myself it is very important to give these feelings room as well..
They are not there to always torment.. but maybe just to "be" as all your other positive feelings are as well..
Thank you for your support..!

This Feeling seems to be given a quite dark and isolated room.

Your welcome. I enjoy asking you these questions about your art pieces because your art just...speaks to me. I honestly feel like I'm reading volumes upon volumes of raw emotions. It's different.

For some strange reason, a 'power meter' like a battery life, comes to mind when I see this.
its at 23%, and blinking red over and over.
*rubs forehead* for some reason I always imagine a headsup display with status monitors, like everyone is a cyborg or something..
but I guess I'd say its not entirely wrong? They looked greatly drained, but not completely dead...
My brain just apparently associates things that way -.-; ...
Sorry, rambling.

The power meter of a battery life seems pretty accurate...
Don't be sorry for rambling..
I always enjoy reading thoughts of my friends and watchers on here especially when it is triggered by my paintings..

Ah.. Yeah its just instinctively the impression I got.
Well yes, I just reflexively apologize, I've been yelled at/put down for thinking/talking excessively, so uh..
...I..apologize for apologizing alot???
Im not sure how else to say that, it sounds like it defeats the purpose >.<;

Aren't bears the best? Even though our logical side tells us that they're dangerous, they always serve as such a source of comfort.
I seem to have come full-circle to my five-year-old self with regard to my love of impressive animals.

Great Bear,
I seek your lessons.
Show me how to sink deep within myself
To find the answers I seek.
Help me know when to seek solitude
As you do in Winter
And when to emerge and nurture all that was born in darkness
As you do in Spring.
Guide me towards sweetness and play
And remind me to climb higher.
Guide me towards wisdom and truth
And remind me to be ever patient.
Guide me towards Strength
That I might defend those I love,
Move with speed towards where I need to be,
And stand nobly for what I believe.
-- Pagan Invocation
I'm not the firmest believer in prayer, but I think something meaningful can be drawn from this.

That was such a beautiful read...
Thank you so much for sharing this.
I think my respect and love for bears has increased quite a bit from this little bit of writing...
It is very true..
I've never thought to think much about why and how I love the things I love.
These little bits bring me closer to understand..
I should read more //sighs.
I always believed the child state of which we grew up from can teach us more than we think..
You always share such little inspirational things! I love it ♥

You're not alone in thinking that. The idea of obtaining wisdom through tapping into the simplicity of childhood is a concept present in Buddhism and Taoism, among other schools of thought around the world.
There's also an interesting tradition among many North American native tribes of revering bears and seeing them as the "brothers" of humankind, something which possibly originated from their observing bears walking upright. The piece I showed you is a bit new-agey, but bears have long been associated with wisdom, nurturing, and courage.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm happy to know that this was helpful!

It reminds me of that disney movie Brother Bear or something that I loved..
I've always loved the natives for how connected they were to everything around them-- nature is beautiful...

I've actually never seen that. I know exactly what you're talking about, but I haven't seen it.
This probably sounds old-fashioned, but it's nice to find people who can actually appreciate the natural world. You don't see that so much these days. Or at least I don't.

Aaah.. I think that also comes with age..
Many youngsters are too overjoyed by what technology and the media has to offer. This is just this age for now..
Even though I've always loved nature, I think the love for it will intensify the older you get.. (:
The natural things are the most beautiful in my eyes...

Are you calling me old? Hehe... I guess it's relative, but I've never thought of myself as *not* being a youngster.
I do agree that it changes as you get older, but I'm a New Englander, so I think I'm almost required to appreciate nature

No, no! I was joking! I sometimes forget that it's hard to communicate sarcasm through text, lol. Thank you, though!
Well, we're right on the coast, so we're never too far from a beach or a nice piece of shoreline. We've also got a lot of forested areas, lakes, rivers, etc. with a decent variety of wildlife in them. Turtles, herons, hawks, deer, swans, you name it. Just keep an eye out for the garter snakes under the leaves. There are a few farms and orchards here and there too.
People around here just have a sort of in-born appreciation for these sorts of things since most of us grew up around them in one way or another. I'm sure some of it also has to do with the fact that we're also a bit of a leftist enclave, so we're almost the California of the East Coast, complete with the environmentalists and hippies. Not that that's a bad thing, of course!
