Description
A miniature white ferret sculpture made by hand using blended polymer clay with delicate wire feet and pose-able tail.I was given the suggestion by someone here on DA, who asked if I would try sculpting a mini ferret... soooooo, I actually took the challenge and made several in miniature scale for a possible magical vignette I have on my list to complete by October. This little one ended up with a solid white coat with shiny black eyes. The other sitting ferret sculpt (I have yet to photograph) informed me that he wished to be sable *wink*

I do not have a tutorial on how to make a ferret. I do have a tut on sculpting, painting & adding a fiber coat to an English Springer Spaniel (see my website for info).
Some of the techniques used are the same, but making a ferret in this scale might be challenging if you are not comfortable (intermediate level) with polymer clay or the furring application process.

Have you seen a Least Weasel? (Mustela nivalis) Tiny ferret like creatures. I had the opportunity to save one from a window well. It was pure white except the tip of its nose and tail. Not but a few inches long.

I have not seen one for real -- but know they are pretty small. Did you keep the one you saved or was it too wild at heart?

It was too fast to actually catch and hold. After trying to grab it in the well for 10m at least i used a stick and my arm as a ramp. it ran up the stick and across my chest and jumped out. I was 33 (now 37) i had never seen one before or since but they are supposed to be all over upper north america.

What a great story -- I bet somewhere that little weasel is telling its grandchildren about the day it was rescued by a two-legged giant.
