Update 2: Very big and exciting news soon to come...!Update: I know it's been two years now, but I am in fact still working on this and planning to update it. I didn't have much time to work for a while. Right now I'm in the middle of rewriting the code from as2 to as3. There'll be a lot of behind the scene changes that'll just make things run so much smoother. On top of that I've redone the layout, which looks much nicer now, it's easier to read and use, and makes it much easier to understand how things work. The last thing I have planned before I officially release the next version is a redo for the art on the markings. Lineart will stay the same, but things such as tabby markings, tortie patches, and white markings will be fixed up, and will hopefully look much better.
I'd like to get some opinions on whether I should upload the full version over this deviation, or whether I should upload a second one so this version can still be used. Thoughts? Feel free to still comment and give your opinion on this, but it's looking like I'll probably end up putting this version on sta.sh, and uploading the new version over this. That way all favorites and links for this will still be intact, and people will still have the choice over which version to use. If you have any other opinions though, I'd love to hear them!

Realistic Cat Creator (RCC) is a fully customizable, genetically sound, cat generator. Currently in beta form, it includes 4 base colors; Black, chocolate, cinnamon, and red. Currently available markings are tabby, tortoiseshell, and white.
Options blocked out with the gray N/A block may be shown by switching one of the various on/off switches.

To save the cats you make, screenshot (no I'm not going to go into how to screenshot here, but if you think I should, feel free to comment and request it!) the page, and crop everything outside of the dark border around the cat if desired.
If you wish to upload the cat you created, you're more than welcome to, but make sure to read and follow dA's rules on this , and always give proper credit, either with a link back to this program, or a link to my userpage.
You are not under any circumstances allowed to sell the cats you create in this program for any kind of currency, nor use these for any kind of adoptables, free or otherwise. You are however more than welcome to use the design you've made and use it with a premade lineart, or in a drawing of your own, and you may sell, give away, and use that design however you please.
Feel free to link any cats you upload from this, I'd love to see them.

I was googling around to see if I could find another realistic cat creator (too eager for the full version of this one <3 and bored out of my mind haha), and I found your's on this website? I didn't see credit to you anywhere on the page, though I guess I could have missed it. I want to assume the best in people... buuuut I also know art theft is far too common on the internet. So I just wanted to make sure this wasn't the case?

There has been significant progress made with the full version, but currently I don't have an ETA for when it'll be finished, especially since I'm temporarily unable to work on this (hopefully that'll be done in a couple weeks, but we'll see).

oh, and quick question, all red cats are tabbies, right? I think I heard that once, and there's no solid red cat option here so I'm guessing it's true? At least for true red cats, right?

Well, appearance-wise, yeah they are. Though it should be noted that sometimes depending on the tabby pattern and other markings (namely ticked tabby), it can sometimes not look like a sterotypical tabby cat. But they're still agouti regardless. However, the genetics of red cats behave the same way as any other cat, it's just the outward appearance that's affected by the whole "all ginger cats are tabby" thing.

Thanks! We learned about genetics earlier this year and I'm fascinated with the subject, so it's fun to know about the genetics of cats, since humans can't be tabby or tortoiseshell XD
Plus that will probably help with studying for my biology exam as we are supposed to use an example of how genetics work ... I think my teacher will be impressed if I show the genetics of cats

Do you mean is there a lineart for long fur? If so, no, not at the moment. Hopefully in the future though. Or are you asking if the same patterns and colors that are used on here are realistic on long furred cats as well? If so, yes, absolutely!

It most likely won't be available as an app at any point, but it may be usable on android at some point! I've actually been considering using HTML5 instead of flash for that exact reason (and a couple others), which would make it available for mobile users. However if I do that, it'll only be available offsite, not on dA.

What colors are you meaning? Currently this has all possible eye colors excluding teal, which only comes with mink and therefore will come in the next update when I add that pattern. If you're meaning just a wider range of shades in the current colors, that'll also be coming in the next update.

Goodness, this is brilliant! I had dreams of one day doing this myself, but I lack the required Flash/game making skills to accomplish this.
I have to ask, though, if there's anyway to incorporate pink noses into the coding, like a mandatory version of the blue eyes? Because white-spotting/lack of pigment would lighten the nose from pitch-black to pink.
But seriously, this looks awesome. I cannot wait for the full version.

I definitely hope to one day have proper skin/nose colors in here, but I'm not entirely sure whether they'll come in the next update. Right now the nose is just completely filled in with the line color to make things easier, but I'd like to have it change (with the ear color as well) based on the fur color, like white markings or tabby. It shouldn't be too complex to actual implement, but it takes a bit of research for color ranges that I just haven't done yet. But yes, I definitely plan to incorporate the pink noses at some point!

My absolute pleasure! I try my best to explain my share of feline genetics to those who are interested, but I think visuals help way over text... especially in the case of genetics, with A's and D/d, etc. It looks extremely complicated in text terms, and sways or confuses easily (including me lol). I think this will help a great number of people learn about them with ease (I'll definitely be showing my "frequent questioners" a ton).

I was looking through a book I have on cats and found a breed called the Ojos Azules (means "blue eyes"in Spanish). This is a breed that has blue eyes no matter what, meaning that it doesn't have to have burmese/tonkinese/siamese markings or white spotting. So I thought it would be a cool idea to make that an option (though it is up to you since this is a rare phenomenon in cats).
Also will smoke/shaded/shell and burmese/tonkinese/siamese be in the next update?
