In drow society, making a mistake can be fatal. Miscalculating any move can lead to doom. Faults are exploited and weakness is seen only as an invitation for an enemy to make a move.
Here we see the results of one of those miscalculations in judgment. This drowess had the audacity of plotting to kill the matron of her house, her own mother. This is not shocking, of course, being a drow society the expected and most expedient way to advance is by murder.
But in drow society the only true crime is getting caught. This budding priestess Made the mistake of babbling a little too much information about her plans after an evening of drinking a very fine wine. She was arrested post haste by her mother.
Now, her punishment is exacted. To be thrown into the rift below the city where the driders lurk is truly merciful as they will kill her quickly.
A drider is the unholy joining of a drow and a massive spider. A curse put upon a drow for some horrible high crime, driders are doomed to live as these spider to testify for eons of their own miscalculations in judgment.

I love the way you depict the drow. It just has that sort of sinister drowy feel to it. The color of the geography is amazing too.

You have nice traditional AND digital?! That's just amazing! You have unlimited talent! I love the coloring of this, especially the skin tones and the contrast of it all. :amazed: I'm stunned.
You should upload more of your traditional when you can, that would be pretty cool.

This particular one has some problems with it that needs fixing (mainly aanatomy and color composition. I intend to update it digitally one day 
As for traditional art, I love doing it, but currently I am loving the versitility of digital as well as the challenge it is offering me as I am new at it

your colors exhude vibrances and amazing nature almost how the rapture in christianity would appear. The omnipresent God, albeit a spider has the hands in everything hence why many hands are stretched outward. The human obviously strippped of all material desires and earthly possesions is to be held in the presence of god and will be judged and their fate sealed forever.

Oooh, such pretty colors. Almost reminds me of a Don Bluth film. Strong composition, too, with that curving area of black at the bottom... almost as if we're looking through a circular window, or at the edge of a globe. I also love how disgustingly hideous that spider dude is.

Wow this is such eye candy Colored pencil/oil pastels huh. Now I admire that I use to color a lot more with those same mediums and I know what its like for your hand to feel like its going to break off. The drowess is beautiful no look of fear really in here face

I decided the whole drider/spidermonsterguy thing was too, erm, dnd for my tastes so I changed him to a bloodsuckingbatwingedclawedfreak. (which lets me play with all the Batman jokes I can find.)
But he made a cute drider while he was one. XD
And now back to Paledrow's Drider: I like the boils- it makes him all squidgy.
