Description
More pyrography! Again to sell at my last year participating at the MCAD art sale. A final hurrah, if you will.I didn't go the "under-appreciated animal" route with this, as we all know people quite like owls, and they've seen their share of trends. Regardless, I myself like owls and rarely draw them, so I seized the opportunity. (This makes two owls in my gallery. There will be more.
The branches are meant to be a part of the owl... or is the owl a part of the tree? Either way, doesn't matter... though I could have made the connection between the two a bit stronger.
Hooray for woodburning!
(Lots of little errors in this one. My woodburning tool and hands were less than willing to cooperate once some shading was underway.)
Art © April Schumacher. Please do not utilize in any way, shape, or form that could be construed as plagiarism. Thank you.
MCAD hipsters, I drew your favorite animal! Why u no love me? OH WAIT.

That looks awesome~! Woodburning looks great as well as difficult, i know I would never be able to make anything close to that awesome if I tried my hand at woodburning.

I was wondering if this was a wood burning, but I thought "Nah, wood burning is freaking difficult, and who can draw like this freehand without a sketch? ..........I stand corrected XD

Oh, there was a sketch underneath this. I'm not nearly so familiar with owls that I'd risk going straight into the woodburning. That aside, this was far from easy. That shading did NOT want to happen, and the woodburning tool put up a mighty fight! Though it only burned me once.

Why thank you! I too love owls, but the complex feather barring deters me from doing much finished work of them.

Lovely owl, I love their ear tufts (so fluffy!)

You should! Saturday (the 17th of November) is open to the public. Funny, since it's the only day that I can go due to my work schedule, but being in the crowd on Friday night is downright claustrophobic.

I'll bet! We may be having our housewarming that weekend, but I'll have to see if I can twist my bf's arm to get up there...

Wow, this is awesome!
The part where the owl and the tree are one is pretty cool conceptually. Looks great too!

oh, this is lovely! i think the connection is wonderful, like it makes a circle xD given that owls live in trees ^^
we have one that lives in one of our trees but its a lonely mr or mrs seeing as he/she hoots for a few hours every night looking for a girlfriend/boyfriend lol! xD

If I could travel, I'd be more than glad to! Perhaps they have more sophisticated woodburning tools in London? I suppose I haven't looked that hard here. (So perhaps I should!

Owls always look so judgmental! The only owl I've known was best defined by the word 'derp' though, so appearances can be deceiving
Really love the shading and the composition. Are you scanning these or photographing them? The details are nice and clear.

They really do... even when derping they look mighty suspicious. I also find they are like cats, if cats had wings and beaks.
The shading was almost too tricky to be worth it, so I fudged some areas. I'm scanning these, since my only camera is the one on my phone, and that would be just scary.
