Description This beautiful boat, the Lady Washington, was out for a sail off the shores of Coupeville, Whidbey Island, WA. Apparently, it sails every so often, and this very cute little town gets all decked out with pirate gear. Shirts with pirate stuff was everywhere, they had belly dancer/gypsie pirate people dancing, kids running around with plastic swords, and pirate flags lining their main pier. I seriously felt like I was living a stranger real-life version of Peter Pan...but more importantly, it was used in the making of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (I believe in the movie it is called the Interceptor).

Meanwhile the boat was absolutely beautiful. This is my color shot of it.

Ah, that's lucky. She came into port in Coos Bay, Oregon but they didn't celebrate at all. =/ Sad day. But I did actually get to go out on it which was amazing, and the ship that sailed with her, the Links, invited me and some other people on board to help with the rigging because we knew sail boats. It was a rather once in a life time thing. This is an awesome shot, I never got any good pictures of her sailing because I was on board. But this one is great =] and looks just how I remember.

Maybe that's where this car I saw was coming from the other weekend... It was an actual truck all decked out to look like a pirate ship. It was totally awesome. Apparently they had broken down or something and they were all out calling on their phones and whatnot dressed like pirates. Was that like a week or two ago?

Huh?! That's really funny!! Well, this was just on Sunday, but maybe the celebrations have been going longer than just the weekend, so it's quite possible!! I did hear someone say that the boat sails from one little town to another, so each town gets all decked out, meaning you might have seen people from another town!!

I like this shot it makes me think of something that I would see in a shot from one of the Pirates movies. Thats cool/funny how the town does that. Hope you had a good rest of your weekend, it looks like it. This shot might be an interesting B&W, though since you have the other one in B&W i'm sure you tried this one to see which worked best. Nice shot and capture. Were you out on a boat when you took this? Just wondering from the angle.

Hehe, yeah definately! It was a good end to the weekend--I enjoyed getting out of the house and actually doing something. Yeah, I took lots in color, and then seperate ones in B&W, and I just ended up liking this one best out of my color ones, and the other angle out of the B&W ones...I was not on a boat when I took this, but rather a floating pier.

Thanks for the comments!

So your camera shoots it in color or B&W? I always assumed that in photoshop or whatever you would make your color shots B&W. I learn something new all the time.

Yeah--I can do automatic which is always color, or I can use my manual settings and choose between natural color, vivid color, b&w, or sepia. All but two (pretty sure just two) of my black and white shots are taken in black and white originally. It just forces me to experiment with different settings and functions, and working with light. But I can always photoshop a shot to b&w if it's so good that I'm mad I didn't take it in b&w in the first place!!

Thats cool, there are times I wish that my shots were taken in b&w. Because color turned b&w don't carry over the same shadows and lighting and contrast as straight b&w shots.
