Actually China plays a big role in Fallout games. At least for the lore part. It was them and US who were in war and launched all the nukes. Plus the first one (Soldier) is
actually straight up from the game. And yay, I could make Soviet trooper after I'll complete the US one.
I would have to completely made it up tho. There ain't really much info about Russia in Fallout universe, except for the fact the Soviet Union never collapsed, but became quite weak after so many years, that China became the biggest rival for US.

In reality I can never see the Soviet Union/Russia getting that weak that they don't matter. Yes China has the edge over money but if push comes to shove over a war between the two I will place my money on Russia!

Yeah. It's not really making much sense to me either. But the creators of Fallout picked China. So they had to made up some reason why it's not Russia. In lore US and USSR had quite good relations compared to China. Even tho they didn't really trusted each other that much.

It could also be with all this anti-Russian propaganda the makers of the game decided not to use Russia because of it. The US and its allies like to use Russia as a boggieman from world domination to global warming to tooth decay. If something goes wrong its Russia fault, no need for real proof all they say it's Highly Likely!

I think I once read somewhere, that one of the devs made that decision back in late 90's when he was in Russia and heard some Russian drunks arguing or something, so he was like there's no way these people might be superpower nation in our game. HEheheheh. Yeah, plus the game itself actually portrayed US as secretly very evil, so I don't think that anti-Russian propaganda might have been behind this. Again first game was made in 1997 already mentioning China as the main rival.

Well who ever said that about the US is right, its like the US took the place of the Soviet Union when it fell and now they are running scared that the lone Super Nation is running out of steam and they are planning on war before they fall to much farther down!

Hmmmm. I guess you're right. But you know. I was thinking so many times, if after WWII we here in Czech Republic weren't ''liberated'' by USSR, but by USA things might have been much better here. You know I like Soviet military stuff and all, but communism might be nice on paper, but in practice it's death, pure death. And people today hating on EU and US are usually saying things were better while commies were in power. SAY WHAT?! You loved the death sentences? The prohibition of traveling outside the country? The fact that the goverment arrested you for not working ( I'm a woriking man, but that's insane). The country literally owned you. I mean it was either that or the Nazis. So I guess we got the less evil option. Before WWII we were Republic like today, but than the Red Menace came and took everything. I don't have anyting against Russia today, at least nothing more than against US today. But back then it was really bad and I would slap those idiots praising commies. I don't mean you, I just mean Czech people hating on today goverment just because things are more open today and everyone is talking about everything, back then they just liked to cover up everything. No I'm not defending communism, I'm glad it fell and you and the other countries were able to get free. What I don't understand that when your countries got free they turned around a joined a dictatorship like the EU. The EU higher powers are not voted in but appointed by corrupt official. If a country doesn't vote like the EU wants they start coming down on it and the people by fines, sanctions and what ever like the US now does when someone doesn't do what they say. All the European countries had do do is draft up rules that would allow people in Europe to travel without passports. The EU uses that as a excuse to trick people to stay in their dictatorship. The EU is not as bad as the Communist system but like the US I am seeing the eroding of the rights of the people and before long it will not be any difference. The only thing the US has and you don't is the Bill of Rights that our Politicians want to get rid of and have been eroding it by this fake war on terrorist. They don't want to defeat it because they know the people will give up the rights to think they are being protected but what they get for that protection is communist system!

I know you're not defending communism, I never thought you are. Sorry I got so political heh. But yeah I guess after the WWII most of the countries in Europe were in ruins, so they knew they need to help each other rebuild things and be prepared, if that happens again. The original thought was noble, but throughout the years EU has become what it is now. I mean, I'm not really surprised. This happens almost to everything, it's in human nature. Corruption and greed is much easier and pays much better, than kindness and honesty.

Well sometimes I get too political also. It's that after the Soviet Union fell that the country I was born and raised in has now turned into the Evil Empire. When things should be better and the world working together the US over greed looks at war as a good thing. In the US they really only have two political parties and there was somewhat a balance but now both parties are parties of Warmongers. It just makes me sic, I'm glad I'm at the end of my life but hope I don't see a world war because of the nuts in Washington DC but I also feel sorry for the younger generation and what they have to look forward too.
