After the end of the first Xeno-Terran war in the free colonies, many ex-imperial systems quickly found themselves on their own, with a lot of imperial gear laying around and a sudden hoard of enemies all around them, pirates, raiders, and other remnants looking to quickly mobilize and form empires of their own. The territories that once belonged to the Azen Empire at it's height now devolved into what the free colonies were at the start of their independence from the UCR: Anarchy.
The battles were usually swift, and larger populated systems quickly took advantage of their once friendly neighbors, enveloping the area. Now a series of small remnant empires and remnant nations lay scattered about, continuing the work that their predecessor failed to do.

Though the Azen Empire never dissolved, they could not venture out and reclaim many of these remnants due to border restrictions and sanctions brought on by most of the interstellar community.

Acreron Reclamation Army:
The most advanced and most dangerous of these remnants. Upgrading currently existing outdated armor instead of making their own, and mixing other gear to form what they are now. They eye their neighbors hungrily hoping to expand their new empire. Partially loyal to the old empire, there is a growing seed of separation from the old, and accepting a new goal of forming a large enough empire to rival even the terrans.

Limerian Initiative:
Formed less of imperialist expansion, and more diplomatically through former neighbors and to have the strength to combat pirates and roving bands of raiders. They generally stick to themselves and hope one day to rejoin the Azen Empire when they leave their borders. For now, they wait.

Tai-Chun Empire:
Fiercely independent. They never believed in the empire from the start, and when their territory was stripped and the Tai chun found themselves sovereign again, they used the opportunity to expand and build for themselves a territory that they hope will deter future invasion from the old empire. Highly suspicious and prone to attack at the slightest hint of a threat, they will fight both to maintain their land, and to expand further. The only way to stop a man from hitting you with a stick is to have another stick

New Tsushima:
Not a large empire, but a small one-system nation, they were loyalists to the empire that were left to dry when they were given sovereignty. Under constant threat of their neighbors, their goal was to wait out the storm and rejoin when they could

Li-Xiang Junta:
After the fall, one of the many armies of clone soldiers that were left and not dissolved under the command of their general, quickly used the opportunity to seize and save whatever they could of the old territory. Loyal to the death, they aim to do the hard work of reforming the empire's lost ground so that when the Azen Empire come, they have less work to worry about. The Li-Xiang seek reclamation with their mother-Empire. Whatever the cost.
