I can't believe I'm still even speaking with you, but you assume that Terraria = Minecraft. However it's more about combat and killing things and getting rare loot and weapons, and killing bosses. If anything it's more like castlevania. It's a shame you've some how convinced yourself it's a terrible game without playing it!

And i'm ok with it being a different game, or at least I can tolerate it, but you have to agree it is heavily influenced by Minecraft. You are saying that it is hardly influenced by Minecraft at all. Metroid could be a heavy influential game as well, but I'm swaying more towards Minecraft, unless you can mine ores and build cobblestone in Mario, Castlevania, or Metroid. There are some monsters and other stuff like that that obviously were created on their own, or influenced by a game other than Minecraft, but to say Minecraft had hardly any influence is an understatement. I hope I didn't point to a different point, I still don't like the game, and I probably showed that in my replies. I hope you see what my main point is.
Otherwise I guess we can agree to disagree.

'mine ores, build cobblestone' isn't exactly a Minecraft idea. Ever heard of 'real life'?
People. Mine. Ores.
People. Also. Build. Cobblestone.
There are games that allow you to do those things too, even if they are few and far in between.
It is WAAAAAY more influenced by Castlevania than Metroid or Minecraft. For God's sake, you toss around maces and have throwing weapons!.. Plus the arrows can have upgrades without modding.
However, it is true that the icons for a few things are about the same, and building things is about the same, but how the hell do you innovate on BUILDING? They added background walls so you can prevent spawning. You really have to play the game to like it, and you should try it.
I came into the game saying, 'If this is a Minecraft ripoff like I think it is, I'm disowning this game...' and now I'm arguing to you about its merits!
It really is only similiar to Minecraft in the ways of life in Minecraft itself, such as mining and stuff. You don't REALLY see much connection to Minecraft though! Plus the preview video is extremely misleading. It has NPCs WITHOUT MODDING, it has BOSSES, it has MORE WEAPONS and MATERIALS, ETC. ETC. ETC. I can go on if you want.
If you don't reply back, that's okay, so.. tl;dr ramble over.

This guy was saying that this game was hardly influenced by Minecraft at all. At all. I'm not saying that it was the majority of the influence, but it has a nice amount I would like to say. Minecraft is still in beta, and many more things will be added on to the game before it will be officially released, so we cannot judge a game that is released sooner to be better because it has more items.
I will honestly say that if there was a trial or some other similar method of trying the game out, I would give it a chance.
As for the Metroid thing, he was the one saying that Terraria was more influenced by that or Castlevania(on an equal level), not me.

He said 'very little inspiration from Minecraft', which is true. A majority of the game is unique unto itself. It really isn't anything like Minecraft besides the actual crafting, building, mining, a few icons... But mining, building, as I said, aren't easy to make unique. There are some big similarities, like the 'Hell' place deep underground, but the 'Corruption', a dark-filled zone, is entirely new.
Yes, but Minecraft has been in Beta for a long time, Terraria hasn't. The developers work on Terraria each day. Notch doesn't always work on Minecraft, but I heard 1.6 came out.
You could always get a direct download, which isn't exactly legal, but it'd be a fast play and unlikely that anyone would notice/care.
But hacking or not is your thing, not mine.
It still is influenced by Metroid on a similiar level, I'd say, but definitely not as much as Castlevania. Have you watched Redigit and Blue's Machinima series on Terraria?
You should. It displays the game pretty well, but even then you'll still need to have played it to know.
Keep in mind I'm a Minecraft maniac too.
And if you want to join my server on either game, I'll let you in, because I don't hold grudges. Hamachi, though.

Well I'd love to play on your Minecraft server! You can send me the I.P. address for it (or however people connect to servers these days, I haven't kept up on that part of the game very well) through the messages, or any way you like I guess.
Right now I'm saving up for a laptop, so I can't afford to spend $10 on Terraria, but maybe after I get the laptop I'll see what I can do. I'm not the hacking type either, no matter what my views are on something money should always go where it is deserved, and the developers of Terraria as you say work every day on something that seems to be going pretty well with everyone. I'll tell you what, because of your approach about this, I'll give Terraria a shot when I get the chance.
I'm looking forward to playing with you on Minecraft, and someday even Terraria!

Alright, PMing lol.
Okay, yes, good, and you could like it... or maybe not, it all depends on how much you really think about the similarities between the two. Me, I just don't care as long as it's not a blatant ripoff... and is fun.
And let the gaming begin!.. or so to speak.

Because i already have that type of game! It's way too similar for me! It would be like buying a second soccer ball, but the second one has different colors.

I still think that comparing a 2D game to a 3D game is an absurd concept, that's like saying call of duty and Doom are one in the same so you should only buy one or the other.

It's a pretty close copy of Minecraft, but it has some unique things..
Even if Notch approves of it, I still have something against it.

Pretty close copy? It's about 1% similar to MineCraft. 1% is close to 100%? I've played both games and they're "pretty close" to being completely different games.
It's like saying MineCraft is a almost a total rip off of DigDug.

Infiniminer. It's not a copy, it's a revision, and Infiniminer was taken off the web.

You should play the game, then decide what you think it "copies". Guess what everything in the world was copied and inspired by something else it's called progress.........

And people say mario
But, everything copies mario. lol
It's got jumping in it.
And minecraft, and just about any other game out there.
Progress? It has a few ideas, but other than that, it's closely resembling Minecraft.

Not here to argue I like and play both. However some people are saying it's a ripoff with no merits of it's own, which is a lie. However Fortresscraft is a different story! lol

I love the game, to be honest, especially with this certain commentator playing it.
Fortresscraft?
That is?
