Description
This is my entry for Round 4 of 's NOCT 2
BEST UNDERSTOD WHEN READ FROM LARGEST TO SMALLEST (Start in the middle then go left or right)
Reading from middle to left:
Raiz(Scizor) charges at Mavis (Florges) to strike with Iron Head, and Mavis anticipating the attack uses Wish. Before Raiz has a chance to react he is intercepted by a blast of Flamethrower from Vibrare (Electrive). Raiz crashes through the flames and into Mavis. Both are injured, but do do his double type disadvantage Raiz is nearly put over the edge. His only option is to use Roost to recover some health, while Mavis's Wish does the same for her.
Reading from middle to right:
Shrapnel instinctively uses Dig to take advantage of his type advantage over Vibrare, meanwhile Vibrare is warming up the Flamethrower to unleash on Raiz. Shrapnel emerges from the ground but is foiled by Vibrare's use of Magnet Rise. Vibrare charges up another flamethrower while Shrapnel prepares to use Smack Down to even the odds.
Vibrare and Mavis belong to
Raiz and Shrapnel are mine.

Great Idea to have the story goes in to different directions, as well as your anatomy. some of the motion feels a bit odd though, like Shrapnel diving into the ground head first.

Thanks!
Yeah I see what you mean. It's kind of silly but in the anime and stuff the usually just spin into a drill and dig that way, maybe I should have gone with that for effect

ya, maybe showing him partially in the ground would be better. Right now I'm just imaging this:

The perspective and panel decision is really nice ono/ Definitely something unique! I imagine it would be much better appreciated in person, though. Like, if I was holding it in my hands or something \*^*/ That way the way you would read it would sort of be pre-determined.
Overall this is quite a beautiful entry! Your effects and your backgrounds are really nicely done! Great job and good luck!

interesting choice for arranging the comic. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like this before ^^

Gotta say I like your take on the panelling here, certainly different and I can see how people can get confused here But other than that everything else's pretty good - especially like the Flamethrower (2nd panel from left) and lightning effects (4th/5th panel from left)

Yeah, it was honestly something I didn't consider until it was a bit too late, that other people might have trouble with that layout, but I'm happy it's going over well for the most part.
And thank you very much

Really cool with the two different battle on the right and left side, a really clever and new idea!
And the shadow/lighting is really beautiful with the color!!!

Thanks, yeah I was experimenting with a lot on this one, and Stevo's color has always been such an inspiration I wanted to try and adapt that to my work,

Very interesting take on this round. I like the experimentation, especially since you wanted to match Stevo's sense of flow, I assume? It looks really neat, honestly. There's a lot of really good movement and action in each panel. Honestly, I think your weakest part is the panel boarders as attacks. I suggest making them more definitive with either a solid base and more thickness overall, or even just outlining them a little to make them stronger. But other that that, you did really well! I especially like the Electrivire's expressions! Great job and good luck! c:

Yeah those divisions were something I really had difficulty wrapping my head around, so I see what you mean. I really appreciate the critique. And I'm glad you're a fan of the flow, and the electrive because it was really hard to keep true to stevo's design. Thanks for the support

Like Roc said, you took a bold move here with this sequence and id say it was a sucessful experiment
Perhaps it wouldve been better however to have split the round from the middle and its continued panels, in a way that to the right was teh electivire and krookodiles battle only, whilst to the right scizor and florges. This is the tactic you were going for obviously, its just having electivire in the left battle for that one panel destabilized the pokemon count on either side, leaving the right side to be underpopulated.
Perhaps if you chose to instead to show the electivires immedeate perspective "(instead of electivire jumping up, he instead shoots the flamethrower towads the center, completing a fire border around the middle panel, you coulve still had krookodile in the right panel (1st right panel being the 4th panelfrom left to right) emerging from the ground swiping at electivire. and follow through withthe same final panel
Anyways job well done, i commend you for taking that risk!
goodluck on your next fight!

Thanks again, I'm really glad I went in that direction, people seem to like it. That's such an in depth critique which is awesome. Yeah I totally see where you're coming from on all that, too bad we can't revise these, for the oct atleast.
But again I'm really happy that you liked it, and I appreciate the honesty.

Yeah, that was totally an accident, but also probably not. Sub-conscious and all.
But my opponent drew electrive really stylized, so I wanted to see if I could keep that going, I went through so many iterations blegh.

I want to respond to this solely in pictures of Electivire's expressions, but unfortunately I cannot

Having the panels go in both directions is and interesting and risky take. I did require the written direction to read them from centre and outwards just because it's not natural for me due to the way we read. But once I had the directions it was kind of cool and very different. I like that each side shows a different part of the battle and I like how intense it is.
Good luck!

Yeah, I'm trying to challenge myself with these, but I definitely see how this is a risky move. Sorry that it was a bit weird to get used to (It was hell to draw), but I'm glad you liked it.
I was going for different so sounds like I succeeded, even if that is to my disadvantage.
Thanks
