I'm making a little super smash bros. ultimate video/edit and wanted to ask if I can use this pictures as a baseline for a thumbnail. I would obviously credit you for that picture if I'm allowed to do so.
I'm new to video editing and am also trying my best with gimp but I don't want to just use stuff without asking for permission first :/

The funny thing is that the customizing the Mii's (or customizing the characters as a whole for that matter) works somewhat similar to an idea I had for if Emerl from Sonic Battle was in Smash Bros. Since in Sonic Battle, Emerl's moveset could be mixed and matched from the other characters, I thought the same could work for him in Smash Bros (such as giving his standard combo from Mario, but Captain Falcons Falcon Punch) Of course the thing we got only does custom special moves (and only the Mii fighters actually take some moves from some of the actual fighters) If it worked more like what I was thinking, we could make fighters that were a lot more diverse and versatile, but we can live with what we got for now.

Yeah, but that might also take away a lot of the individuality of the characters if anybody could use their moves. I like it to where they have a few unique options for everyone, but I would be cool to falcon punch with anybody I wanted.

True I'll give you that, especially for just customizing the normal fighters (though it would be nice to at least have variations of the other attacks, not just the special moves). But for custom characters, using mixed moves from the actual characters is probably the only way we could ever make a custom character that isn't more or less a clone of a single characters, unless you hack with Project M or something and make a character that way. (makes me curious to see if anyone can and will make something like that for the Wii U version.)

Damn, you think about this a lot (in a good way). I agree, if the custom fighters could be a combination of all the other fighters moves and not just a few, they would be a lot more fun to use and specific to each player. But that's probably the problem. In a game so focused on equal competition, if you could just build the ultimate fighter it wouldn't be entirely fair, and it wouldn't be fun if everyone was using some sort of ultimate build. Plus from a design stand point there are a lot of moves that would be very difficult to transpose onto the Mii fighters. Just due to the size and shape of them. But still it would be really awesome if I could combine some of my favorite characters into to one character who looks like me.

To be completely honest I didn't really think about it all that much, the idea just came to me. But thanks anyways. Again I can see your pointΒ but they would probablyΒ put inΒ limitations if we could build like that to counterbalance it (other than just offlineΒ or with friends since we have that already with the way it works now) as for certain moves not transposing on custom fighters, I have no counter argument for that one, that's just a issue with how theΒ size and animations work.

You make some good points, I would definitely like to play the game as you thought of it. But I'm studying game design, so part of me always thinks from the practicality standpoint. Anyways, it's a pretty good game as it is. Congrats Nintendo, you've beaten the system again.Β

Yep, and I guess you could say we should consider ourselves lucky we got any form of customization at all. We may never get the level of customization that I'm thinking of, but a guy can dream can't he?
