Description
As all sail ships and boats, the Statsraad Lehmkuhl uses aerodynamics and wind to move thru the water, as well as the tides. The ship is fast in the harsh conditions, but a little slower when others are out and about on the ocean... So we did not always make the best of speeds.Related content

Woow, nice pic! I will always remember how Statsraad Lehmkuhl arrived in Turku, Finland in 2009 Tall Ships Race... It was pouring down and the crew members were hanging from the rigging and singing It's a pity that she didn't take part in The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta in Turku last weekend, would have been nice to see her again
I really envy you because you've been sailing with this beautiful ship! But on the other hand, probably I'd just get seasick in 10 minutes under sail, I'm such a landlubber.

Thank you so much.
If you wish to sail with the ship [link] here is the link. they post their cruises some time every january/february some times as early as december. Feel free to sign up, you will get to climb the rigging and set over two square kilometres of sails. It is a trip you will remember for life, no matter how short a trip you sign up for
The prices include food and all so it is cheaper then a hotel for the same time period and way more social and fun hehe

Thanks for the information! I looked at the prices and it really seems quite cheap. And I'm sure it would be way more fun than a hotel, yeah.
But I'm also quite sure that I wouldn't have the courage to climb the ridding, I'm afraid of heights

No one would force you, but you should try so you get a picture of yourself in the ships rigging.
you do not even have to go high up in order for them to get good pictures of you there ^^

That's good to know that it's not obligatory to climb But maybe I could do it if the ship didn't rock too much

All sailboats use the wind to move, but not [link] . Boats, whether sail or other wise, use [link] because they do not fly or travel through the air, but through the water.

Sorry if my last comment seemed rude. That was not my intent. I just wanted to explain to you how the ship depends on aerodynamics to manouver.
Again I do appologize if my last comment seemed rude. So sorry.

You truely need to study your physics kid.. the aerodynamics used to sail is the wings movement compared to the winds directoin. You see, if you study aerodynamics you will learn that the sails of a boat are in fact airfoils moving through the air. You do not want to argue with me here... I've studied aerodynamics for quite a while and proven on several occations that sailing uses aerodynamics... I do not mean to be rude.... So yes they use aerodynamics to travel.
But you are right... the ship does. Hydro dynamics refer to the dynamics of a ship moving through water. I agree with that one, though the dynamics of this vessel is not up to date due to having been built state of the art around the turn of last century. And the aerodynamics of the ships sails are not optimum, but this is impossible due to the size of the ship the sail that would be most aerodynamically correct would be the set up that is now... but had it been a smaller ship the sails used would form better air foils up to a larger angle towards the wind.
Sorry but you had the correct idea, but at the same time.. you know.
I hope my note has been informative, I could go on and on and on. But that would only be boring.
I did like you taking up this interresting subject tho. Thank you
