Description

    I was more insecure about this piece than any I had been in years, because I’d failed in every goal I’d set for myself in it, and it looked virtually nothing like what I’d planned.

    The entire idea came out of watching the old Lynch adaptation and reflecting on how much Paul’s God Emperor cloak looked like a Klimt painting. I’d wanted to bring exactly that notion to life, mixing opulently patterned flat spaces with sensual, dimensional flesh in Klimt’s trademark aesthetic (one I’ve been vainly aspiring toward for eternity). But, in my way, helpless to reign in my ravenousness for rendering, I rendered the daylights out of it

    As subject I’d wanted to create an homage to the women of Dune. Beside the male protagonist at the literal centre of their universe, it is a powerhouse of nuanced, effective, intelligent, multitalented, ninja mega babes who command the dynasty. Especially for its era, this was something I much enjoyed and admired in the story!

    Having excruciated over ever detail for months, cloistered in and going quietly quarantine-crazy, I’d been staring at it so long I could not longer tell if I loved or hated it. Thankfully, by the feedback of so many and the especial kindness of the Dune community, I can now look at this painting with freshened eyes, and see that, verily, it is dopeXD Thank you all for always uplighting me <3
