I painted this after scrolling past my old 'The Lovers' tarot card artwork and thinking just how closely it fit their relationship. These two and their stories meant a lot to me. A girl aching for a home and a boy who thought he could never go back to his. Sword fights in snowy forests, one soul reaching out to another in the still twinkling embers of battle, the touch of a hand across time and space... Dark and light in each of them, I felt it was the makings of a much more nuanced, much more human balance.
