Well to be perfectly honest I didn't really have a scenario in mind when doing this. It's based on the sub-regional areas idea in EU4 (as a lot of my other stuff is) and that is why the map is rather balkanised so to speak. With regards to the 'outer' borders, the timeline would deviate from ours in a few ways,:Β
- Spain wins the 1635-1659 war with France; in the resulting treaty of the Pyrenees Spain gains some land in northeastern Basque (on this map) as well as having France recognize Spanish control of Catalonia north of the Pyrenees. Spain also takes control of Andorra.Β
- The Iberian Union never ends and Portugal is integrated into Spain.Β
-Spain captures Gibraltar in the American War of Independence and retains control over it after the war.Β
However the map and above scenario are not meant to be realistic, just a fun thought exercise and a chance to experiment with some interesting ways to divide the peninsula
