Description WARNING; Absolutely enormous file-size!

PLEASE PLZPLZ read the instructions/rules before requesting an animated commission: panimated.deviantart.com/journ…

Sooo here it is, I'm finally doing animated commissions.. huh.

I ONLY DO animations in photoshop and flash. And you have to make it clear if you want your animation to be flash-animated, or else I'll just make it in photoshop.
so no pixelart. I'm not good with pixelart. Sorry :c

But you need to know this; It takes SUCH a long time to make animations, so I don't necessarily want to do them unless it's really worth it. So I'm sorry if the prizes are a bit crazy... I also know that calculating the prize is a bit... mathematical. But trust me, it's easy! And fun! ....ok maybe not that fun but have an example..

EXAMPLE:

You want a fun icon-thing with your character making a silly face.
You want a MEDIUM format animation, you want it to be FLATS quality and you want it to last for 10 FRAMES.
MEDIUM is 1£ per frame. FLATS has a value of 2.6. And you still want 10 frames.
So what you do is you take that one frame, multiply it with the value, and then multiply again with the amount of frames.

1 x 2.6 x 10 = 26£

That's not so bad!
....sorry if I'm feeding it to you with a tiny little silver spoon but.. I like to be super-clear on things.

ADDITIONAL STUFF:

Abstract backgrounds: FREE!
Complex background: +10£
Additional characters: +50% per character

And as the picture says, if you have a very complicated character, that can make the prize go up. If your character is a stick-man, I could give you a little discount. I'll have to see the reference

So now that you totally get it all, I understand if you think the prices can get a bit.. crazy. But listen, there's still hope! Those prices are all for FRAME BY FRAME animation.. Here are some tips, tricks and cheats that can make your animation cheaper:

IDEA 1: MOVING PICTURE. IF you for example only want just a still image of your character- and only the eye blinking, that counts as just TWO frames. Obviously the product will have more than two frames, but for the sake of the math... so you only pay for two frames!
It's not limited to eye-blinking it could be the tongue sticking out, the hair blowing in the wind, or so on. Each part you want to move counts as ONE extra frame.
example: you want a full cinema-format, flats with cell shading. You just want your character to look up at the stars, her eyes blinking, her hair blowing in the wind. That will only cost 13.5£!

However to avoid a never-ending lip-sync or super-complicated movement, I will have to be able to fit that movement (the eye blink, the hair flowing) into less than six frames. So no sneaky overcomplications also, obviously if your character is covered in hair and you "just" want the hair to move.. that's too big. That'll count as frame by frame

IDEA 2: BOILING. Boiling is when you take one image, and draw over that about 4 times. The subtle differences from drawing to drawing will make it look like the drawing is moving and "boiling" which makes a nice effect and gives the sense of full frame-by-frame animation. But since it's much quicker for me to make If you want one image to be boiled, that only costs 2 frames.

IDEA 3: KEYFRAMING. This basically means I only take the most important frames - so frame one might be a face, and frame one it's like this: then on frame two: and on frame three like this:
So it will look a bit jumpy, but it will be moving, and it will be cheap. Only three frames! Heck, why not just get a 2-frame-animation?

I might just be confusing you with these options.. But let me know if any of this interests you, and I'll let you know if any of these applies to your animation.

Hello, I messaged you on Facebook about interest in commissioning some gifs similar to the wolf template you created. Would love to discuss my thoughts and ideas. Is this the best place to do so?

Do you mind if I copy this sheet organization? I have yet to find a layout that I like for my animation commission sheets and this one's absolutely perfect for what I need!

Yeah no problem! I know it's hard to set up animation commissions in a sheet Go for it!

Hmm...how much would a flat+cell-shaded big icon be of my character;
toyhou.se/44940.kailani

And have her pop up from the side and wave at the viewer?

//curious

Panimated In reply to Faolannn [2015-01-26 22:14:09 +0000 UTC]

hmm, that would be about 2 seconds, and 25£ per second - so about 50£? (I recommend dropping the cell-shading since it probably won't be very noticable on such a small icon - this is 20£ per second and 40£ in total ) I'm not sure if I can see the ref, the link is broken But I assume the images at the bottom is the same character? If so then it's no problem, her design isn't too complicated

Do you use Photoshop for your animations? I use Flash.

I use flash from time to time but I prefer photoshop, or good old traditional

DraconicSymphony [2013-09-03 02:07:18 +0000 UTC]

Ok so basically I'd like big icons, abstract background for both icons, the characters touching heads together and smiling, so like 2-3 frames I'd estimate.  With cell shading please.  I hope that's specific enough, sorry if it's not, just let me know what else I need to specify and I will happily do so xD

How comfortable are you with drawing humans, cause I have an idea, but I cant find any examples of your human style yet :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Panimated In reply to SpottedJay [2013-09-03 18:05:22 +0000 UTC]

yeah I'm sorry about that, I haven't really worked out what human style I have yet I doodle people a lot, I just never upload them, haha.. I'm working on it. I like drawing stylized, cartoony people, and I can animate them quite well too, as long as the characters aren't too complicated. But I guess it's like that with anything, eh? I understand if you don't want to chance it though, I'll try and put up some examples soon :3

I've been trying to get something like this organized for myself but actually have the examples animated. This seems like a good idea to follow but I might have a different layout. Good luck on those commissions!

Yeah, I wanted animated examples as well, but I figured it would just take too long Maybe I'll make another sheet some other time... Thank you!

DarkAdobe In reply to Panimated [2013-09-03 20:39:52 +0000 UTC]

Lol that's why mine's taking forever. I'm just doing one level of examples at a time. It's going to be a whole flash game by the time I'm done with it lol.
