Description Wow. If you haven't seen the story yet on this, here goes.

Wow guys. I am flat out amazed right now. Don and I were sitting at our computers working on candle stuff and all of a sudden two of our neighborhood hummingbirds came in and tried to get out through the window. But, it was closed, and I can't remove the screens to let them out. So we brought out two of our acrylic containers and they dropped in on their own. The one I caught was a rufous hummingbird. He flew right out as soon as he realized he was outside. I expected the same from this other fellow, but poor baby was so tired (didn't land once while in the house until the container was put under him) he didn't want to leave. So I put him in my hand (we're on the second floor, and I wasn't sure he hadn't injured himself) and tried to coax him to fly off. He tried to fall asleep in my hand instead. Finally just got him to fly free, but had to get a picture of me holding him first. Don is a pretty damn good photographer if you ask me

This is so adorable. You're so lucky to have this happen to you. The warm and fuzzy feeling is known to me too. I took care of a few fledgings on different occasions. When they look at you, you can help but smile. I've never had one fall asleep before in my hands, but it sounds amazing.

*gasp* she's so... CUTE! I seriously want to steal her! And I adore the way she has a sort of almost untraviolet-y type sheen on her feathers... *awe*

How sweet it must've been having that bird fall asleep in the palm of your hand. Maybe (s)he was truly tuckered out or maybe you've just got some serious animal magnetism, hmm! Either way, cool moment.

poor little hummingbird - we have about 30 at our 5 feeders and they fly into the window sometimes, also had the opportunity to hold one that was stunned...but yesterday opened the back door and found one on the doormat - he didn't make it

Aww, that's a cute story, I haven't seen hummingbirds in a great while even though we have a feeder out. I don't know what kind lives in Ohio but I'd love to actually see some. BUT YOU! You got to hold one. That is super super awesome. :3 *favs*

Wow, I doubt many people in the world can say they've held a hummingbird. I've never seen one up close, personally, although they always dart around my backyard. This is amazing!

Amazing story, what are the chances of something like that happening to a person ey?
This picture gives a nice perspective how tiny the bird actually is.
Amazing...

LOL You're right on that. And considering my hands are very tiny as it is, it really puts it into perspective, at least to me and the people who are familiar with that aspect of myself.

Thank you for the fave hon

that is about a once in a life-time photo opportunity. I wasn't at my grandparents' house when they had two hummingbirds fly in, but they didn't stop and rest lol. They finally herded them back out. This is absolutely amazing.

The male of the two did stop and rest, but this little one didn't. I'm betting that's why she was so calm resting on my hand. She knew I wouldn't hurt her somehow. Thanks for the fave!
