Description I'm a marionette
Strings tugged and yanked
I'm not in control
And you're to be thanked

One foot in front of the other
Another slap after the next
You made me trip over myself
Continuing to make my utopia perplexed

I'm running about with scissors
Trying to cut the ropes
But you're controlling my arms
And I'm just snipping at my hopes

I'm a wooden puppet
Lipstick shades of devils red
Overdone with Matryoshka makeup
Plastic is a disease easily spread

But thank you for thinking for me
For making Pinocchio's nose grow
For making the strings invisible
And not letting anyone know

I'm a doll
One so real that she's fake
Equipped with a turned off heart
No blood pumped, no chance to break

I'm a toy
The one you always forgot
Inanimate object still second best
To every other playmate bought

I'm friends with tattered teddies
Those with stitches and a gash
I'm an unperfected Barbie
One that's headed for the trash

I'm an old stuffed animal
Perched onto the wall
I wish I were humpty dumpty
Waiting for my first and final fall

I'm a china doll
No one dares to hold me
Afraid to cause more damage
To something as old as the sea

I'm that brunette
The one goldilocks curls
Never given a place at the table
Which is a tea party for little girls

I too am a tattered teddy
Much like the ones I befriend
But no one bothers with stitches
Because I always fall apart in the end

I'm the doll in a revealing dress
The one considered a bad example
Even though I didn't clothe myself
I'm considered as futures sample

I'm the baby doll
Put to sleep 24 hours a day
Not even fed with a plastic bottle
Given absolutely no reason to stay

I'm the figurine left on the playground
The one you're told not to touch
I'm bound to be filthy parents say
As if childhood words weren't too much

I'm buried in the sandbox
Or thrown out in the sun
I fell out of your pocket
When away from me you tried to run

I'm the one exchanged
I'm the one returned
Always for the better model
The one for which you yearned

I'm still in the factory
Being made for others
A Christmas toy to be bought
By uncaring yet spoiling mothers

But of course that's not the case
I'm already in the reject aisle
I'm the unconventional doll
Flawed with societies fake smile

It simply means that people can't repost my work unless they get permission from me

One small edit needed:

"I wish I were humpty dumpty
Waiting for my fist and final fall"

What an array of toys you covered here. What a sad tale you told. Kind of a pessimistic outlook. Have you seen Toy Story 2? Woody knew one day his child would out grow him but he cherished every moment of play with his child that he could get. The prospector was bitter because his child had moved on a long time ago. Seems to me that there should be a silver lining to being a toy.

Merry Christmas!

Haha thanks! I just made the edit and yes, I'm not an optimist. Even during the holidays.

I've never seen toy story but there really is a silver lining to being a toy, i still can't fall asleep without the stuffed animal i got in grade two

Merry Christmas!

I like the content, but the meter sets you up to a certain rhythm, which you didn't always follow and that got a little tiresome, especially with it being a long poem.

But overall, it was a nice read.

I heard that. Sometimes you just have to just get the words off your chest. There's no room for editing in that sense

No worries
