Description
When you get a cut and bleedIt's just your skin crying
So that you don't have to
When you pass out
Think of it as a nap
You finally closed your eyes
When tears slide down your cheeks
It's a hollow relief
That emotion is leaving your body
When makeup runs down your face
For whatever reason
It's because you don't need it
When someone says your eyes are cold
Or your personality is distant
At least they took the time to notice
When you get a hug
A meaningless, time consuming hug
You're still happy to be held
When someone breaks your heart
And you feel it drop to your feet
You're just being reminded you have one
When someone lies to you
You just get closer
To only trusting yourself
When you have a meltdown
And your throwing everything in sight
At least you know it won't get worse
When you zone out at the worst time
And are oblivious to the world around you
You're still grateful for forgetting everything
When you put your head on your pillow
And turn off your phone is still darkness
You know that no one can bother you now

This reminded me of the movie Dodgeball, where the main character says "I find that if you never set goals in the first place then you are never disappointed." It's sad, but true.
I can't say I always see the silver lining but it's true that there nearly always is one.
I like how you find new ways of looking at things. Quite often that is the purpose of an artist's work. Great job on this poem, it is melancholy, reassuring (in a way), and true.
