(This is another suggestion I got for this ‘After’ picture, suggested by pericazr - I couldn’t find any ‘before’ pictures of a woman under a precariously dangling tree branch, but this is close enough...)

Alice stepped out of the house and surveyed the neighborhood. The storm had been severe, even scary, but aside from some small branches littering the street, and the neighbors’ recycle bins tossed two yards down, the damage seemed minor. She decided to walk down towards Main Street, to see if anything else had happened.

Alice barely had time to register the cracking sounds before she was hit by the heavy branch. She was pinned instantly, her head twisted at a painful angle, her fingers tingling. Multiple people saw it happen, and fire and rescue made it to her in what seemed like seconds, but the damage had already been done...

The nurses lifted her into her wheelchair to take her down to breakfast. She still struggled to control her chair with her right hand, but at least it did more than her left...
