One of the biggest misconceptions of the modern era--treat "tolerance" like a positive thing while the word itself has a neutral-leaning negative meaning.

Indeed. Though I prefer to see it as a negative circumstance that is a positive opportunity to create positive change. But too many people think it means spread open your ass cheeks (metaphorically speaking) and let people make you their bitch, all in the name of tolerance. Just like how multi-cultural is supposed to mean respect for diversity, but too often its taken as "sacrifice your diversity and conform to the current meme, using multi-cultural as an excuse".
So instead of "lets respect each other and learn from each other" it becomes "fuck your culture, we're conforming to this other meme today, and if you refuse to conform -- then you're anti-diversity and a racist" lol
