very nice choice to take the picture through this darker arch, the rest of the ruin seems to be glowing in comparison!

Oh may
this looks fantastic !
I would like to suggest two things that in my opinion would be better :
A. I'm actually not sure about the person in the photo, it does give a perspective on the size, but it also draw attention
B. HDR for balancing the exposure of the structure, the surrounding and especially the windows (that are totally blown up)
could be superb

thanks a lot for the and the comment..
A: it was taken directly into the sun- ..I think HDR would have not have resolved that completely...I am not such a great fan of HDR anyway as it tends to be too surreal- unless that is the specific object of the photo. I also like the "glare" as to me it has a spiritual aspect, this being an abbey- representing the "shekinah glory" - the man in the picture providing a "carnal" contrast...as well as a sense of scale
I have a shot without the person, but I felt the person gave the photograph more meaning so I chose to submit this one instead...

You said " A: "
So where it " B: " ?
I guess that the sun does contribute to the glory by it's light
