"People put themselves in boxes I just label them."What happens to you when you label?
One who strives to be themselves.
Those who cannot be easily labeled, weather labeled from afar or not they keep to the label they have dubbed upon themselves.
Plain and simple.
"Myself"
I am me.
Nobody else.

The point of this series was to express through visual Art the Idea "People put themselves in boxes, I just label them"
The person labeling all the other people was the perseon you see standing before you inside a simple box made of cardboard. He stood next to all the other boxes being quite proud of what he had done.
And when it all comes down to it.
He to is in a box.
Even the person who tries so desperately hard to label everyone else.
Is in a box all to themselves.
They claim to be original.
They claim to be... themselves.

It took alot of work, and alot of hours.

sounds like this was a fun project.
you don't seem to draw a really clear conclusion, although you do a great job of raising the question.
I'm curious. Did doing this project cause you to think differently? and if so, how is that reflected in the way you respond to other people?
is it possible to think outside all the boxes...to not box people in and not be boxed in? are boxes entirely not a good thing, or is the answer to find the value in them rather than escape them?

I don't call somebody by a label until they label themselves. I have labeled myself goth because I think it's an easy, roundabout way of describing myself. and NO, we don't all look alike. >> I don't even dress in all black, usually. actually, I think what you label yourself (IF you label yourself) is kind of a way of thought, not necessarily a way that people dress and who they hang out with. So if you say, "I'm emo." maybe you cut yourself and think about suicide a lot? (okay, I know that not all emos cut themselves). And when I say I'm goth, I mean that I could give less of a shit what everyone else is doing and how they want me to be, and I look on the darker side of things.
I think you can be what you want to be. But people shouldn't let others label them. If you're going to be labeled, do it yourself.
I still love this series, though.

I know this series was from a while ago, but it all reminded me of a time when this girl went around school giving names, and labels to everyone she came across. One girl with amber and green choppy hair, a flannel shirt, skinny jeans, hoodie, and converse was 'the emo girl', another guy with pants up to his waist held up by suspenders, and huge circular glasses was labeled 'the geek/nerd'. Another guy was 'wannabe goth', another was 'quiet anti-social guy', and yet another was 'the social reject girl who plays the sax and writes good'. Granted getting that particular label probably wouldn't be so bad if you could ignore the reject part. I mean I'd be thrilled if the meager minded ignoramuses that attend my school recognized that I do have some kind of talent. But anyways, when the girl labeling people got to me, she just stared for a moment, tilting her head to side, saying "Now, Guess [my nickname], what are you?" you jumped off the roof holding only an umbrella! And people say you're a freak who uses her psychic powers to kill things. You're scary Guess. And I think you're smart. You seem like you are. Maybe you're just a freak... but a freak isn't really..." She stared some more then threw down her hands in blatant frustration, "Argh! What are you?!" Finally after pondering over her question for another long minute she looked up again sighing. "Guess, I guess you're just a "Guess", and she walked away. I always though it was kind of cool, as I could easily get labeled goth, or even a loner. So I suppose this picture of yours would describe me, if I must put myself into a box. I'm just myself, nothing more, nothing less.
