I remember seeing this attached to a local newspaper article about dinosaur nose positions -- god, that was back in '98 or '99 or something?

Anyhoo, I can't believe I ran into it here. I love how you do texture in your drawings and paintings. (:

Thanks! Yes, it is an old one. It has been up a while.

Testing out different nostril positions, huh?
Great detail work.

This is amazing! I really like this- you make the mouthline end just before the back of the skull, without curving it back up the skull like Greg S. Paul does (not to knock his work, but it looks much better the way you do it).

This method also gives me an interesting solution on how to make the theropods in my comic expressive. Mind if I use this as refrence?

I would consider it a compliment. By the way, your stuff is great. I took a look at your gallery, very interesting sense of humor. Take a look at various crocs, monitor lizards and larger birds, especially the cassowary. And remember mammal eyelids close from the top down but birds close from the bottom up. I tend to go with the birds. And always imply the function whenever you include a controversial evolutionary character. Personally, I hate "proto" or vestigial wings on the larger dromaeosaurs.

Dude, what a wonderful job. Dinosaurs rule! I don't think it's bad that it looks so docile; in fact, lions do too when they aren't hunting. You should paint a feathered Velociraptor; it would look amazing. Take a look at my gallery: I posted some dino pieces too.

I am currently working on some juvenile Deinonychus. They will definitely be feathered. It may take a bit to get it all correct, but they may not be what everyone expects but they should be somewhat surprising when they are done. Also, take a look at all the keratinous plates on ankylosaurs & etc. They could be as colorful as turtle shells. As artists, we could re-create those rather, up until now, dull lumpy creatures into something really spectacular. Good art work in your gallery

I remember this from an article about the nostrils of a T-rex being positioned near the front of the snout instead of at the top. I remembered I think mainly because of your artwork. The t-rex here looks so docile, like you could go up and pet him

Thanks, I always felt that the face of the Earth's supreme predator would probably carry the shadow of the Buddha.

Yeah, every so often I get a good commission. I can't make a living at it, but its fun.
