Description Life reconstruction of a fossil eurypterid from the ancient seas of Western New York. Compiled from several quick studies. This is very nasty place/time. Check all your equipment before you head out. This is an not where you would want the machine to break down. Chances are, if any thing goes wrong, you will not get back alive.

I love what you did with it, making it from a frontal view with it's bitty claws opened for grasping. Wish there were more artistic presentations of it like this.

Pterygotus is one of the only eurypterids that stands out to me (other than Megalograptus and Jaekelopterus)!

I found this by searching dA for eurypterids. Then I saw this thumbnail and I swore I'd seen this before. This is in the Buffalo Museum of Science, right?

One of my jobs is working as a scientific illustrator at the Buffalo Museum of Science. Atropine? Belladonna?

That's great! I've never seen one drawn in a perspective quite like this. Scary places, those Paleozoic seas must have been.

Thanks, All hard shelled critters can stand a lot of brightness, and water environments allow for more freedom in atmospheric movement.
