expensive?

phildog In reply to zoomzoom [2009-10-08 03:01:12 +0000 UTC]

The cost probably is based on the materials used and the amount of it used by the model.

Shapeways offers their own 3D printing service, and can 3D print objects in stainless steel . Sounds perfect for your models.

The first place I read about 3D printers was in an article about Guitar Hero toys in GameInformer. I find it hilarious that if you swap his little gun for a little guitar, his pose still works great.

Sheesh but those printers are accurate. Are there any details out of place or messed up at all?

hey... very nice.. itΒ΄s always nice seeing your work, and even more something out there in the real life.. jejeje
btw.. there is a contest on character design on gameartisans.org, is about the video game Dominance War. The first place gets one of these 3d printers among other stuff... check it out..
If you participate iΒ΄m sure you will win it, so iΒ΄ll do my best on getting the second place. lol

Yes hard choice: looks damn good like this too...

The amount of details is very cool.

I'm soooo jealous.

Did you have to modelise in some particulat way? Like for shoulder support cylinders: did you modelise them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

pascalblanche In reply to shtl [2009-02-22 22:35:06 +0000 UTC]

nope, the guys @ moddler.com did it... i think they used this pretty complex model ( tons of tiny parts ) to test their accuracy

I didn't know object printers could get down to such small details!

Its fascinating to see a sculpture that is imagined on 3d software and built by a machine turn out so well...its also interesting to see that despite all the intricate pieces, it still manages to not fall apart and stand on its own weight!
