Unfortunately, I can't really say the same for myself. When I'm suffering any kind of mental roadblock, there's typically some deeper (and typically complicated) mess I have to untangle: things simply do not work themselves out for me by focusing on the work itself -_-

Hahaha, I love how she comes and and BAM there's the simplest answer. I've heard for the best sense of accomplishment and to extend productivity throughout your day (whether the tasks are big or small) you should start each day by making your bed. The small sense of accomplishment of a chore is supposed to snowball to the rest of the day. I do have to say, the days I make my bed/go through my "me time" morning routine the better I feel about my days by the end of them. ^^
Thank you for another wonderful comic!

i don't want to sound like a sexist apathetic insensitive jerk, but i think i understand your frustration. if being an artist is your "main" job then it is frustrating more than having another job and being an artist as a second job. i remember being frustrated once about an piece of art i made (i cant remember the details...) but i do remember my younger sister telling me that "work what you love so you love what you work. but be prepared for it to be your downfall if you ever let it be." it's like choosing your favorite music as your alarm clock. the more you listen to it the less it becomes your favorite and the more it becomes a brood for you. so instead of doing what you love, it transforms into a chore that you must do or all else fails. so it becomes a stress that you don't want to. because art is the artist's get-away, if it too becomes a dead weight then its all for nothing.
forgive me if i am being blunt or rude. but also, being an artist, a dad, and a husband can be super frustrating and tiresome most of the time. especially if you have a wife who doesn't work and kids you have to take care for. but having a wife that doesn't work can have it's pros and cons. a working wife can help her husband financially so he doesn't feel like he is carrying all the load alone. but a house wife can take care of all the thing that is related to house work and kids so you don't have to bother yourself thinking about house chores. we live in an era where no one can survive financially on their own. they have to have some partner to help them out. so i understand completely when you feel like you are way over your head while everyone else looks like they have figured out all the kinks and gaps in their lives and you are stumbling as you walk. it can be very unfair. but at the end of the day, when you've gone through all that and have the people you care appreciate what you do, it feels like you owned the world.
my advice to you is to is if you ever feel like the thing you love is dragging you down, find another job that is not art related. you can make art as your second job this way it doesn't feel like its a chore need to be done. of course you don't have to listen to me it's not like what i say is the only truth. then again, i could be way off and this is not what you feel at all.
i am sorry again if you feel like i have stepped my boundaries to something i should not have business to. feel free to delete this comment if you don't like it.

This is why creative types match well with practical types.
For my, the practical type is my husband. XD
I need him and he has me to make his life more colorful.

"... And that's the truth." Because, I'm the wife-and-mom, and I was/am my hubby's support system, bad days last longer; but I do get through them.

Yup... my 'job' of being an author is lot like that too...
I think no one has a Super Special Secret for being creative.. it's all just down to rolling up your metaphorical sleeves and getting on with it. One. Damm. Thing At. A. Time.Β

I believe it was Ernest Hemingway who said, "Writing is easy. You just sit down at the typewriter and bleed."
