So... what exactly is the fandom's obsession with "Inuyasha's sister"? It's practically become some sort of cult following, of the sort, "Even though we never see her, she MUST exist!!!11" I mean, WTF? With all the Sister!Sues out there, it would seem like Inu-papa was the biggest manwhore in all of Japan. Not to mention a majority of them are younger sisters, meaning either Inu-papa was a cheating bastard, or Izayoi got the hankerin' for extra youkai-lovin' after he died.All of the Sister!Sues in this image are based off of actual Sue descriptions in fanfiction. A search of fanfiction.net for "Inuyasha's sister" returns about 300 results of fics submitted within the past WEEK. I didn't brave all of them. In fact, I only got through those half dozen before my brain fried. Among them were a girl who was both Inuyasha AND Kouga's sister, meaning Inu-papa had to boink Kouga's mom. And a girl who was 3/4 cat demon, despite Inu-papa being her father. And a blonde hanyou from the modern era, meaning that Inu-papa somehow traveled to the future and shagged an American. The list goes on... x___x
Inu-papa gets multiple letters a week on his column inquiring about Inuyasha's mysterious sister. Either that or it's someone claiming to be his long-lost daughter. I mean... isn't that a little insulting to go up to a guy and demand that you know more about his family and sex life than he does?

Mary Sues in any fandom simultaneously scare and annoy the crap outta me. I can imagine that it could well be said for the InuYasha fandom. Bloody brilliant work on bringing the absurdity of the whole thing to light! And I do applaud you for doing your research and actually braved those fics... I could only imagine the reprocussions, lol.

The rant is about as hilarious as the drawing. Nicely done...I like it a lot...even if the whole Sister'sues' scare the crap out of me. You have my sympathy for reading those fics...even if it was only enough to get a physical description.

I agree completely with you! I'm an author on ff.net *points at link in siggy* And I looked up 'brothers'. . .once. . .How I got 3 MILLION sister things I don't know, but I swear a 'brother' is not a 'sister' , trust me, I have two sisters, and I know people who have brothers, they are not the same. I like the curly hair though. Anyway, Inutaisho had two woves and two sons. . .if his was to have anymore kids. . .it /should/ be with Izayoi or other wife (I call her Seieiabo, or Sei, for the sake of calling her something). And Why sisters?! After I looked up 'brothers' i read, stay with me here, 1 (one, uno, ichi, 1) story that had a brother in it. And get this, I liked it, tried a sister thing, nope, nu-uh, never again.

Um, not that your picture isn't cute or anything . . . it really is . . . but you're also dealing with characters from feudal Japan. In feudal Japan, for someone of InuTaisho's status, realistically speaking, chances are he had around five to six wives. If not that many, then he definitely had a harem. Number of wives was as indictative of status as much as land and money were.
If you don't believe me, check out Kenneth G. Henshell's book Japan: From Stoneage to Super Power. (I think I got the author's name right. I definitely remember the book, even though I didn't get to read all of it.) It's in there.

When i first was getting into Inuyasha, I heard talk of inuyasha's younger sister and I expected to see her in later episodes but as I got a bit more into the series I figured out that she was seen or written about. I mean for a LONG time I waited for her to show up, like in the movies or something like that! But she has to exist somewhere!! Maybe inu-papa was getting a bit frisky XD!!

ROFLMAO I'm so guilty!!! Three years ago I created my first OC and fanfiction of Inuyasha's sister [who was blonde... and amber eyes...] well, little sister! But Inuyasha had like... forgotten.
rofl it was original at the time, to say the least, but man, everybody wants to create their own. It's fun but stupid. XD Man I miss those days!
See I think the problem is that 3 years ago.... I'd only seen... what, 12 Inuyasha epsidoes? I became obsessed after I witnessed 13, and found a forum and BAM fanart, fanfics, wallpaper, music, BIT TORRENT... I got into the whole shee-bang! Nowadays, though, due to anime and manga, and movie progression... there's no real possible way... unless.. nonono won't go there. *holds muse back*

You know, I could potentially invision an older half sister/brother (younger to Sesshoumaru) - if written properly (which it never is), but so definitely not a younger sister for Inuyasha - mostly due to the fact that 1) Inu No Taishou seemed, at least to me, to be a rather faithful mate, so wouldn't cheat on Izayoi and b) what man in the warring era would want to bed a woman (Izayoi) who had bore the child of a demon? Would never happen.
But even in the slightest possibility that it 'could' happen, the fact that all these siblings/half siblings are nothing more than generic knock offs of their would be brothers is what tends to drive me nuts (especially when they're described as 'just like Inuyasha/Sesshoumaru, only in a different colored kimono/yukata).
One of the ones that really threw me for a loop was when one girl claimed to have made Inuyasha's twin sister (this was for a psuedo canon RPG); ignoring the fact that the third movie showed, without a shadow of a doubt, that Inuyasha was a single birth, so could not possibly have a twin.

Man, I am not quite forn od the whol sister-sue thing, especially when it's implied that he was a man-whore. Good GOD, why is it people cannot priase a charcater for beeing LOYAL, but the only way to make him "cool" is if he goes around having sex with everyone?
Doesn't this kinda alert people to a MAJOR society and cultural problems most young females in our culture have developed? Thanx to pop culture, Really.

Thank you for targeting what I think is one of the most deadly diseases of the fanfiction world. Combined with your lovely lineart this makes for another addition to my list of favourites.
(By the way, my favourite half-sister was the half-elf, half-demon girl named Stacey. I forgot the title of that story, but she was such a cute girl and Inu-Papa surely didn't mind bonking Legolas for her. Bleh!)

Inu-Papa must have been trying to out-do the Egyptian Pharaoh, Ramesses the Great. Ramesses the Great had at least 8 wives, and at LEAST 100 children. Many from concubines, and the approximate number varies depending on your source. Some say somewhere around 100, others say several hundred. I remembered this from some show I saw when I was younger that talked about Ramesses and how, even considering his long life-time, (He lived to be about 80-90, when the average life-span was 40) he still would have had to impregnate several women a day to have as many children as he did. He was a very busy Pharaoh, indeed.

You are far braver than I. I have mostly given up on the Inuyasha fanfic world, save for a couple gems here and there (*cough*HouseOfTheMoon*cough*), but even when I was into it full swing I avoided stories with original characters, especially paired with existing characters. (Only thing I didn't care about is OCs that were merely supporting characters, or plot characters or something. Hate it when people put their own Mary Sues into the spotlight, 'cause 99.99999999% of the time it's very poorly written.) And those Inuyasha's Sister fics! UGH! I avoided those like the plague! If people MUST make up an OC, at least make it feasibly possible! Bleargh...
