I just read Barbara Forrest's "Creationism's Trojan Horse, the Wedge of Intelligent Design" and it's put me in a bit of a mood. I honestly think that theocons have a greater strategy than just Intelligent Design, something greater encompasing that proliferated during the Bush administration, I just haven't figured out how to fully put it to words yet. But the response is clear, it's time for some giant freaking death ray action.I'm not saying giant death rays are feasable, or possible, or even desirable (for now) but if one is ever going to be built, science is going to be the one who builds it. Because no matter how hard you pray for a giant death ray, you're just not going to get one. So tell religon to back the hell off.

Unfortunately it's the opposite. Piss off RELIGION and IT responds with violence using the products of the SCIENCE that it claims doesn't work. The scientific intellectuals however consistently capitulate to religion. It's only a few who are willing to put their feet down, like Lawrence Krauss. Most are like Neil Degrasse Tyson, all wishy-washy, afraid to even ADMIT that they're atheists or admit that science has any business opposing religion. I wish there really WAS a war on religion, the way the victim-complex Christians claim there is whenever someone tries to deny them some right to oppress others in some small way. But nope. That's why religion has lasted as long as it has.

Yes. You would come to that conclusion if you are looking at the world through a rational secular POV. When you're making an argument against religion, you are dealing with people who have an idealogical POV that has little or nothing to do with reality, and thereby they may conclude everything from the atomic bomb to the double edged was a gift from God.

I can't account for every person who worked on atomic/hydrogen bombs but the most prominent like Oppenheimer and Einstein were Jewish. Lieutenant General Leslie Richard Groves, leader of the Manhattan project was the son of a pastor and a devout Presbyterian (he was extremely conservative). The Teller-Ulam design for the hydrogen bomb came from Edward Teller & Stanislaw Ulam, were secular Jews. Most of the new bombs being made right now are being built by religious fanatics, such as North Korea (they prey to their leader, whom they deem to be a God, so I think that counts to be religious fanatic), Pakistan, and very likely Iran.

Yes, I did think about that, but I used too many photo elements to blend in a cartoon character. I whipped this together in about ten minutes in photoshop. This is ANGER photoshop. This what I create when I'm angry.

Oh I could go on for a long time about the "greater strategy" during the Bush administration.
Suffice it to say, there are some that were literally trying to bring about the apocalypse. Not all of them by far, but that even some would is a scary thought.
