Description The main protagonists and antagonists of my version of The Jungle Book.

From left to right in front: Baloo the sloth bear, Kaa the Indian rock python, Mowgli the human cub, Bagheera the black leopard.
Behind them, were Shere Khanum the golden tabby tiger, and Tabaqui the jackayena(half-jackal, half-hyena).

Baloo was a sloth bear, and he's a good teacher of the Law of the Jungle, and he's a-little serious fella, so don't make him grouchy.

Kaa was an Indian rock python, and she is a good friend of Baloo, Bagheera, Mowgli, and the wolves of the Seoni Pack. Not only that she was a former friend of Shere Khanum(the reason why she used to be Shere Khanum's friend, because Shere Khanum broke the laws of the jungle, but Kaa was innocent), but she is the predator of the Bandar-Log(a tribe of monkeys who kidnapped Mowgli, but they are afraid of Kaa).

Mowgli is a man cub whose raised by a family of wolves, and he was brothers of the puppies. Also that he's a main protagonist of my web-comic series that is based on Kipling's stories.

Bagheera is a black leopard, who was a good friend of Mowgli, Baloo, and Kaa. She was a little-bit serious like Baloo, but when Mowgli was spoiled. She was born a captive with a rich family, but later she was freed by her master, and she become respectful of the Law of the Jungle.

Tabaqui was a dishlicker, and it is a Jackayena(half-Golden Jackal, half-Striped Hyena). I did depict that Tabaqui was an asexual jackayena, most adaptations depictΒ that Tabaqui is originally a golden jackal, some other adaptations(including Nippon Animation's The Jungle Book: Shounen Mowgli) depict that Tabaqui is a striped hyena(but his species referred as jackals), but in Disney's The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story, this movie depict that Tabaqui is a spotted hyena(though his species referred as a hyena) but spotted hyenas actually lived in Africa while the other spotted hyenas are extinct in India and Europe during the Ice Age. But enough about the adaptations, Tabaqui was a minion, friend, sidekick of Shere Khan(um), and it is despised by all the animals of the jungle as a coward, even its parent-species like golden jackals and striped hyenas despised Tabaqui as a freak of a mutant.

Shere Khanum, the great and dreaded golden-tabby tigress. The main antagonist of my web-comic/novel series of The Jungle Book. She was a selfless, arrogant, pompous, overbearing, and highly aggressive, and self-centered, so that Khanum herself will see herself as "Queen of the Jungle."

I'm so sorry, but most people did make Bagheera a male, but some other adaptations can be rare when Bagheera is a female. Anyways, but why?!

Just is. People seem to use female animal/creatures around animated children more often than male ones, Idk why.Β

Well if you keep on pestering me for something important than I help around my home without shutting up, one... More... Time, and I'll block you, understood OK? And I'm not Anti-social to you and everybody, I was actually busy doing something for my life, not only for helping anything around my house! I know you're trying to help me, but I don't need one. Once again, you may be famous on YouTube, like that of Angry Video Game Nerd, but you are always pestering people who don't take requests from all(either including friends), commissions, etc. for all. Shame on you. Too greedy, selfish, and annoying is it?!?! I have learned plenty, because I'm not a so-called "Stupidis idious fauna!" However, you're not annoying, greedy, and selfish, you know. I was much of 50% brains, and 50% brawn. Sorry about that.

It's completely unfair and inexcusable for Tabaqui to be despised just for being a hybrid of two species. Β For being a coward, I can get, but not for being a hybrid.

Is his fate the same as in the original story?

Oh, yeah I did make Bagheera as a female, just like the Russian animated version of the Jungle Book, Maugli. Some versions, including the Disney, and Chuck Jones's version for example, are most likely male. Did no one has ever seen the female version of Shere Khan before, aren't ya?

Patchi1995 In reply to Keseko [2016-12-05 00:17:48 +0000 UTC]

My version of Kaa is actually a female, like the real-life Disney version of Kaa, along within Kaa from 2018 WB movie of The Jungle Book(also known as, The Jungle Book: Origins). So uh.... who cares! But like you said, most depictions, including the cartoon Disney, Russian film, Nippon Animation(along with Mondo Films), and even the original Jungle Book versions, that Kaa is depicted as a male.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Keseko In reply to Patchi1995 [2016-12-05 00:30:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, Kaa is just more badass as male. Also, I believe you mean "live-action". XD "real-life" would imply it were a documentary or something. But the only reason they gender-swapped him in that was because they felt there was need for more gender diversity (despite that Kaa didn't really have anything but a minor role in the movie). I'm usually fine with gender-swapping, but it's just that I feel Disney did it for the wrong reason. For example, the Soviet cartoon swapped Bagheera's gender both for grammar reasons and due to his feminine elegance in the books. I think that decision was valid enough (and also because Bagheera was incredibly cute in the Russian cartoon XD. Especially how motherly she was to Mowgli).

Hmmm.... Good point, most all depicted that Shere Khan isΒ a male. I was the rarest person who depict that not only Shere Khan was depicted as a golden-tabby tiger, but gender-swapped into a female. Half-like me, Chuck Jones did depict that Shere Khan is a white tiger. Even Nippon Animation Studios depict that Tabaqui is a striped hyena(but his species are portrayed and referred as jackals). Also Jetlag did depict that Tabaqui kinda looked like a cross-breed between a coyote and a cheetah, but sounded like a spotted hyena(especially the hyena's laughter, for Tabaqui's yipping and howling).

Yeah. And also for the Shonen Mowgli version? Even though he's a Striped Hyena called a Jackal in the English Dub, At least Striped Hyenas look more Canine looking than Spotted Hyenas! (Disney's The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story's version!) I also like that Shonen Mowgli's Tabaqui looked so Adorably Pathetic! I'll say that this version of the web comic is rather interesting being a Jackalena!
