Description The main protagonists and antagonists of my version of The Jungle Book.

From left to right in front: Baloo the sloth bear, Kaa the Indian rock python, Mowgli the human cub, Bagheera the black leopard.
Behind them, were Shere Khanum the golden tabby tiger, and Tabaqui the jackayena(half-jackal, half-hyena).

Baloo was a sloth bear, and he's a good teacher of the Law of the Jungle, and he's a-little serious fella, so don't make him grouchy.

Kaa was an Indian rock python, and she is a good friend of Baloo, Bagheera, Mowgli, and the wolves of the Seoni Pack. Not only that she was a former friend of Shere Khanum(the reason why she used to be Shere Khanum's friend, because Shere Khanum broke the laws of the jungle, but Kaa was innocent), but she is the predator of the Bandar-Log(a tribe of monkeys who kidnapped Mowgli, but they are afraid of Kaa).

Mowgli is a man cub whose raised by a family of wolves, and he was brothers of the puppies. Also that he's a main protagonist of my web-comic series that is based on Kipling's stories.

Bagheera is a black leopard, who was a good friend of Mowgli, Baloo, and Kaa. She was a little-bit serious like Baloo, but when Mowgli was spoiled. She was born a captive with a rich family, but later she was freed by her master, and she become respectful of the Law of the Jungle.

Tabaqui was a dishlicker, and it is a Jackayena(half-Golden Jackal, half-Striped Hyena). I did depict that Tabaqui was an asexual jackayena, most adaptations depict that Tabaqui is originally a golden jackal, some other adaptations(including Nippon Animation's The Jungle Book: Shounen Mowgli) depict that Tabaqui is a striped hyena(but his species referred as jackals), but in Disney's The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story, this movie depict that Tabaqui is a spotted hyena(though his species referred as a hyena) but spotted hyenas actually lived in Africa while the other spotted hyenas are extinct in India and Europe during the Ice Age. But enough about the adaptations, Tabaqui was a minion, friend, sidekick of Shere Khan(um), and it is despised by all the animals of the jungle as a coward, even its parent-species like golden jackals and striped hyenas despised Tabaqui as a freak of a mutant.

Shere Khanum, the great and dreaded golden-tabby tigress. The main antagonist of my web-comic/novel series of The Jungle Book. She was a selfless, arrogant, pompous, overbearing, and highly aggressive, and self-centered, so that Khanum herself will see herself as "Queen of the Jungle."

Yes I have. Already. But I myself DO wish for a dub of it with different voices. I will ALWAYS prefer Shonen Mowgli!

Speaking of: Just what would Lala think if she could see Phaona right now?

To be fair, I've never really been a huge fan of Lala or Phaona. IMO, Lala is easily one of the most annoying characters in Shonen Mowgli and Phaona is just a really jealous guy bent on getting rid of Mowgli. Phaona really has none of Tabaqui's adorkable, cowardly woobie-ish charm.

Yea but Lala is SO much better than Phaona! While she WAS jealous & resentful of Mowgli early on she eventually appreciated his presence and truly became a friend to the Son of Alexander! (I DO like THAT name for the Father Wolf!) But I don't think Phaona ever does get friendlier with his Man Cub.

I recently watched episode 38 of Shonen Mowgli (The episode where Shere Khan is finally defeated) and there is one scene that SHOCKED me: The scene where Bagheera interrogated that poor, nameless jackal to the point where it was crying. I mean, the jackal was really only minding its own business when Bagheera stepped in and BAM! Normally, I like Bagheera but I think he went too far in that episode by threatening that poor jackal. I mean, it actually had tears in its eyes, it was so terrified of him. What did you make of that scene?

Well I guess if you wanna bring Shere Khan down once and for all, you can never be too lax with those of Tabaqui's kind. And as Bagheera stated: If that Jackal/Hyena really was hiding something about Shere Khan or Tabaqui then Bagheera would have known by now. But at least he didn't take his food and kick him outta there!

When I watched it, I was all "Dude, cut the poor thing a break, can't you see how scared it is?" but that's just me.

I found a good trope that describes both Lala and Tabaqui well:

1. Why is Baloo brown? He's also pretty big for a sloth bear.

2. What's that white spot on Bagheera's tail?

1. Because Kipling depict that Baloo is a sleepy "brown" bear, and I depict that Baloo's fur color was mixed between brown, grey, and black, just like his fellow sloth bears. Since that sloth bears are also known as "Sleepy Brown Bears," Baloo is roughly the size of a small brown bear, which he's 100cm tall in his shoulder when on four feet.
2. I put the white spot on Bagheera's tail tip, to make her look like Giza the black African leopardess from Arven92's comic series "Africa."

And how about Shere Khan's eye? And if I may suggest something, give her crappy teeth.

About how Khan lost her eye, Mowgli used a dagger to stab Shere Khan into her eye, to not only get her eye gouged but make a scar on her face, while protecting his adopted human family while on their way to a man-village. About if you suggest something giving her cruddy teeth, I don't know.

Most man-eating tigers have poor dental heath, thus they turn to easier things like livestock and eventually people.

Good point, but Shere Khan expects that Mowgli was her only human prey she can catch.

So she's not a consistent man-eater?

Yes, though Khan was more of a man-hater than a man-eater.

Ok, I was thinking of cats like the tigress of Champawat who ate her way through dozens of people
