Having grown up in Canterlot Castle and experiencing the life of a royal, Harmony has grown to be quite materialistic. Her mother, Twilight, sent her away at a young age to study among other gifted ponies at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. However, her magic was too unique and powerful for her to learn much through traditional studies, and the havoc she wreaked caused other fillies and colts to steer clear of her. Celestia, who had pity on the young Dragonequus, consulted her sister, Luna, who had experience with raising and teaching the art of chaos magic due to a child of her own. Luna was ecstatic to take her in, and Harmony soon considered both of the sisters as aunts.
