Description
As has been requested, I'll say it right here; I did not draw this. I will not claim that I did, nor did I make any of the resources visible in the finished piece. I did however make the brushes I used to apply certain effects.Just a little something I made to use as a login BG. Enjoy!
I know it's nothing impressive, but I couldn't think of anything else to add.
Render: Stocking (From PS+G) - Cut by +Solitary
Original Picture (From which Stocking was rendered): Fly Away by Murakami/ζδΈ
Original Background Stock: Daniel K.
If any proof of either the render or stock are needed then I can cite what I know. I did not render Stocking myself, it was already done.
Edit: Amazing, I never thought this many people would see, let alone like this wallpaper! A huge thank you to everyone who clicked to look,
I'm currently in the process of obtaining written permission from the original artist (The one who drew the picture of Stocking before it was rendered) so those who wish for that permission will have it. Please wait patiently as I will.

This is so pretty. I love Stocking <3 The only thing that bothers me is the fact that so many ignorants are accusing you of stealing when they didn't read your author's note. Lol FAIL -.-

im a mate of shadow and i have to say to all the haters has anyone bothered to ask the origional owner of the image if he (or she) actually cares why dont you ask him/her to come have a look at it then they can decide and end all the trouble
p.s this is a rant in defence of my friend not me saying that stealing art is right i agree any artist should get permission for artwork or at the very least post where they got it when the origional owner cant be found however you all need to stop demolishing people for using others work thats what the style is

It doesn't matter. If they upload this, on deviantART, deviantART copyrights the picture in that Deviants name. This Deviant can get sued.

thats not the problem here its the ethical issue of claiming work as your own when it isnt

This is GORGEOUS.
Okay, normally I don't really like it when people use images they don't own to make their own work out of... but it's a really difficult matter to judge.
I mean, you have created your own piece of art with this, it's not like you've just stolen a picture and claimed it as your own. It's good that you've given credit where credit's due (though you don't give a link to the original?), so you're the artist get credit for the work that they've done...
but the original picture has no background, it's mostly just black. This picture feels complete, and has much more depth to it. As SlumberPoppy said, it looks almost alive, like you've made her real.
I think that's a fantastic skill.
Some people are character artists, some background artists, some writers and some calligraphers, but some people are good at the finishing, special effects of a picture, and I don't see why they shouldn't be credited as artists too (like yourself )
Often professional artists will have assistants who specialise in particular areas of a picture, with skills such as you used to create this.
I would love it if I had the ability to add these effects to my pictures. I'm a character artist, so most of my images end up with simple pattern backgrounds, and whilst I've tried photo backgrounds before, they never end up mixing together as well as this!
Bravo~

Respect Your Fellow Artists
As a vibrant and growing art community deviantART welcomes all kinds of original artworks; but we MUST insist that the artwork which you submit be your own original works.
Your deviations must be your own original creations and you may only use resources which are considered legitimate and legal. Submissions which make use of works without proper permission or licensing by the original author will be removed as they come to the attention of the staff. This policy applies to all Deviation submissions, Scrapbook entries, and the preview images used for written submissions.
If you have reason to believe that a deviantART submission violates this policy you should use the official Report Violation link which is available on every submission page.

The resource you got this from was not legitimate. This piece is copyrighted and owned by the original author.

Y'know, I'm getting a little tired of all this over such a small thing.
Could you give me a count of how many other pieces should also be taken down for the same reason? Maybe then you will see the fruitlessness of doing so. I have this here not to make money, nor to gain publicity. I posted it up solely so it could be seen by the community of dA as they wished.

It is impossible for DA staff to go through every single deviation that breaks the rules. That doesn't mean breaking the rules is OK.
Personally, I find the lack of disrespect to the original author [link] who worked hard to create the piece more disturbing than the "stealing" part. How do you think they felt if they saw what you did to their art without them knowing? and how you even accept praise for it. I can't force you to see the wrong in this nor change your views but it still makes me sad to see it on an art site like DA. It's become a trend.

I'm currently asking for permission to use it.
And also, it's an art style, that's how many came into being.
Finally, I never said breaking rules was ok.

Sorry but asking for permission does not justify you using it before even receiving an answer.

Well that is good to know, I hope you get permission. It's true that this made it to the front page so that's why people are commenting on it more.

You can't just use someone's work as long as you credit them. I just did a full course on this. You need permission.
At least you're more reasonable than previous artists I've spoken to, though. This one chick thought she was fine to upload a picture that was %100 not hers (she didn't even modify it) and argued that it was OK because it was 'from a video game' and 'this website is for expressing ourselves by posting images we find on the internet!' Utter rediculousness.

I'm glad that you haven't lumped me in with ignorant posters like that, and I thank you for that. Though, as I've said, from my own sources, the stocks used were "free-use" at the time I checked.

It's very unlikely that the original renderer had permission from the original illustrator, unfortunately. Still a nice manipulation nevertheless.

Thank you for the comment, glad that you like it.
I'm currently asking the original artist myself, to see if I can at least have permission. If the answer is no, then the picture will be removed.
