Description I thought I'd share this, I've been trying hard to focus more on detail with my lines now, I'm trying to think of details I wouldn't normally think of when drawing characters, like treads, knicks in boots, creases in clothing. Please feel free to critique my work, I'm also trying to work on my anatomy a little more, and proportion. Any good tips would be appreciated

Cheers

Your line-work is perfect. Brilliantly balanced between streamlined, angled, simplified, and detailed. It encapsulates me in every one of your pieces.

You're art is such role-model for my own, so it feels really strange to critique it in any way. This is more a minor critique on proportions and posing.

Sometimes I feel like realistic and cartoony proportions can get mixed - like the width of his knee joint here. Perhaps try using a body part as a guide to double-check the level of stylization.

And however fantastically dynamic, some characters' poses can appear a little too similar with the left-arm and right-foot forward or vice versa. I find Chirart is a great inspiration for unusual poses.

All the same, your art is awesome.

Well I'm not a 'critic', but this is amazing work. I like your style so much and I'm following your work for a long time by now.

You always convert those known characters into your style perfectly. This requires perception at it's best and you clearly have it! (As we already know.)

I'd like to add, Nathan looks a bit older than we used to be seeing him. Was that on purpose? Or maybe you went with the Next-Gen version, which he seems to be older than he was before.

This piece reflects his characteristics so good. His always-in-trouble state and Indiana Jones-y gear with his casual clothing.

In the end, you're awesome. This piece is awesome. When it's colored and has a background it will be on another level.

Cheers!

I see no flaws in your linework at all. Your attention to detail is stunning. Great work. This will look even better colored. And all the details will be even more noticable after. The gun details are so clean. This is the level of detail that I'm trying to get to with my work. There isn't much left to say about this piece. I'm just trying to put in enough words so this critique can post. It's hard getting to a hundred words. DeviantArt must think we're all good at prose to put this large a limit. Can't we just say AWSOME and move on? LOL

Your draw is just flawless, it looks awesome.
The proportions are really well done.

I don't know if it were your objective but his head is little squared, the nose and the chin looks too squared in my opnion.

Even thought it's squared it looks GREAT, if that's what you meant to do, it is PERFECT!

And your focus on the details is working pretty well, the guns are flawless drawned, the rope and even under his shoe!

Are you going to finish this art (paint and make a background)?

I'm really look foward to see the finished version!

Keep on with your GREAT work!

Before i start I just want to say that i am always in awe at your lineart and i think that it is the strongest part of your images.

The creases on your cloths tend to lend more to the body movement and anatomy than the fabric itself. However you tend to balance your U-shaped folds and creases pretty well. The amount of folds could make the image a little overwhelming though because they don't lead the viewers eye very well [My eyes tend to get drawn to his left arm.]. Though this isn't to say your folds aren't placed right. I would look at: static.zerochan.net/Gorillaz.f…

Details. You can draw the lineart for all the items/clothing really well however not everything is perfect. For example: There are no wear and tear marks on Drakes boots - they look like he just brought them. I know in the final image you made them muddy but a few chips and scratches would make your image more realistic.

Your anatomy is fine. You tend to exaggerate or empathise the shape of the muscles but that's your style so yeah. Amazing work as always.

Have a look at these artists for some ideas on details, creases, seams etc.

I like your line work, it's thick and thin in all the right places, however I would watch out for tangents. With this much line-work, it's easy to miss one here and there. I've spotted two of them though on the right arm (the one holding the gun) with the knuckles and the arm.

The perspective on the right knee is a little strange, I know it's further away from us, but when compared to his chest and other knee, it seems like a deformed baby knee. If the knee were a tad bigger, it wouldn't be so jarring.

The last thing I can offer in advice is a stronger silhouette. As it is, it's a great silhouette, but I feel it could have been stronger if the right leg had been extended just a bit more, so that the foot could have been more defined. I also say that with the left hand, if you blacked it out, it would appear that he lost most of his fingers.

Try to avoid bunching body parts together (unless the piece calls for it) and try practicing some silhouettes, in the end it will make your characters more dynamic and have a bigger impact on the viewers.

I think your line work is complete gold!Β

It's like you are playing a musical instrument and you know exactly what notes to play and where (thick to thin).

I've spent the last few weeks toying around with my own line work to try and come close to what you do. I always get little squiggles in my line unless I zoom way in on my document. Β Is this the same technique you use? I watched one of your tutorials on the mafia guy and that helped a lot so thanks!

The only critiques I would have on this piece is in the pant creases on his left leg below the calf. The lines are very thin and not as dynamic as the rest of your line work in the piece. Other than adding a bit of thickness somewhere in there like you did just below the knee I wouldn't change anything!

The tread on the boots looks amazing!

Hmm the only thing i can think of is that it could stand to use more line variation! A lot of these lines are coming across to me as too thick!
But the rest of it is amazing, it's really detailed and you did an amazing job considering what you set out to do!

One thing I always notice about your work, there is a great "energy" to your pieces. There is usually some action going on but the flow and curve of the art is what draws me in the most.

Always so great seeing you share anything with us.
