Description
I thought I'd share this, I've been trying hard to focus more on detail with my lines now, I'm trying to think of details I wouldn't normally think of when drawing characters, like treads, knicks in boots, creases in clothing. Please feel free to critique my work, I'm also trying to work on my anatomy a little more, and proportion. Any good tips would be appreciatedCheers

This line work looks very good overall, just like to colored version. Some details that could be improved imo are:
-Β the proportions of the pistol, it looks like the barrel is too short, when comparing it to the trigger gaurd;
- the ends of the pants are covering/touching the shoes too neatly, as if your character is standing in a calm pose. Instead the character is clearly in action, but the pants (ends) are not really joining in the action. Especially on the right leg, which is bent most, the trouser leg could have stopped above the shoe.

Amazing drawing as usual, but in the spirit of critique and improvement - the right knee looks a little thin. Normally when a knee is bent, the joint generally gets visually thicker.
Love your work tho dude.

i agree, the leg farther away is thicker/bigger then the one closer to us.
love the work tho.

I love your work and you already put alot of details in it!
I think adding more details may make it confusing to "read"Β and probably what you could addΒ is rendering, using cross lines to do shades.
That's my opinion, iΒ hope is helpfull.

I only saw one minor detail that was off, how the sling is attached to the rifle. You put it on to the gas valve, which is wrong. There is a seperate sling mount on the left side of the gun.
Like in this picture (This is the SIG 556 though and not the 552/553 of your drawing, the sling mount is the same though) i51.tinypic.com/rrqb5x.jpg

I admire that your working on your anatomy. Many artists with a notable style tend to overlook that, when in fact, going back to the basics only gives you a stronger base to work off of. I have this book "A complete Guide to Life Drawing" By Gottfried Bammes, which is pretty useful for anatomy. As for details, looking at details in real life is probably your best bet to finding something unique about your subject matter. Something that only you would notice. (that also goes with anatomy) The fact that your still reaching to improve says a lot about you as an artist. Keep it up

Patrick, I think your drawing rocks!Β Especially considering the sheer action being conveyed.Β The viewer is practically part of the scene because the viewer becomes what is being jumped over.
You ask about detail.Β There is one very important detail that the individual running, considering the training he would have received to do what he is doing, would not be doing that you have him doing.Β Someone who is combat trained would not be running with his trigger finger inside the trigger guard and on the trigger.Β Instead, for his own safety and the safety of those he is tasked to protect, he would have his trigger finger pointed straight along the frame of the handgun he is carrying.
Even if he was standing still, unless his sights were on whatever his intended target would be, he would always at other times have his finger along the frame rather than on the trigger.Β The reason for this is a phenomenon called "sympathetic response" controlled by the sympathetic nervous system which controls our "fight or flight" responses.Β If something startles an individual, especially someone carrying a semi-automatic weapon due to the very short length of travel it takes for the trigger to move to release the firing pin, the hand has a tendency to squeeze causing an accidental discharge.
I apologize for the rather lengthy explanation, but sense you mentioned working on anatomy, I wanted you to understand the physiology behind my observation.
And thanks for sharing an awesome piece of work.

Thank you for sharing this! I am a huge fan of the way you do clothing folds. I would be really interested in seeing a skillshare class on how you do armor and clothing, but I know that's a lot of work. Just.. wow, such great detail!

I don't think you need tips. If anything you should be giving tips. I actually like this more than your colored one so we can drool over the lines in all their untouched glory. I just can't even find enough adjectives to describe the awesome that's been put before me here.

Such fantasticΒ clean line artworks :3 anatomy wise and proportions I really can't find anything wrong with this. Though is it possible that the back bottom foot there is a bit too inward showing? Seeing how the leg is bent there, I dunno if it's just me XD; but this looks really good.

Who are you trying to fool here. This is awesome! The proportion is fair and realistic, and the folds and creases of the clothing help make this picture come to life!
I understand how hard proportion can be, but it will be easier in time.Β (I'm still working on my proportion and motionβ¦and everything else, to be deadpan honestβ¦)

It always baffles me when an artist like yourself wants to work on their proportion or detail...I personally can't see any issues, that drawing was sick!
