You are pretty handy with those textures, the picture has a clean look without looking plastic, fits the mood of the Witcher games.

Also yes, I really hope they make the whole open world idea work, from what I've seen from the promotional stuff they seem to have it handled alright, but weirdness always happenes when you have random generation elements in your system. I really liked armor designs from Witcher 2, hopefully the new ones will grow on me in time.

Nice chain mail texture! Unfortunately it's so high quality that it ends up looking a little flat (Like a texture on a 3D model without bump mapping).

His expression is phenomenal, I can't say enough good things about it!

Everything else is as fantastic as your stuff usually is; I hope you don't mind the criticism, I'm trying to be constructive because you are a fantastic artist and I love to see your progress with every new drawing/painting you post!

Bloody hell thats a work in progress, if you did not say or write anything I would have thought this was the finished piece.
Really love your lines and the amount of detail you are able to draw and achieve with each piece, yet you make the drawing look so simple
just amazing. Your a big inspiration.

One question, did you draw chain mail? if so awesome, if not it is still awesome since you probably coloured it. Cant wait to see the final thing

Damn this is a work in progress, Β so how good will the final drawing be. MIND BLOWN!!!!

PatrickBrown In reply to rymslm [2014-09-13 13:12:57 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much! The chain mail was done by draw a small section then repeating it, then I wrapped it around his armour, and then coloured each part. This is only cropped into the middle of the overall image It's much bigger and I've got a lot more going on around him Love drawing monsters!

You are welcome. Thank you for the information, damn why have I never thought of that technique, thanks again
it will really come in handy with what i am planning on drawing eventually.

Dude can't wait to see the final drawing, yeah monsters are a blast to draw

Yay for DRM Free! Die, Steam, die!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dragon-nexus In reply to Atlya [2014-09-13 21:59:42 +0000 UTC]

What's wrong with Steam, exactly? Steam's got the least intrusive DRM going.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlya In reply to dragon-nexus [2014-09-14 09:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Still DRM. A way to strip the consumers from their rights to own the software they bought.

It's one of the least intrusive yeah (as long as it's not put next to another DRM), but it still is DRM.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dragon-nexus In reply to Atlya [2014-09-17 18:08:55 +0000 UTC]

And in what way is Steam's DRM bad?
I have a single protected account that allows me to access my games from anywhere I can log into. My purchase history is stored with my account so there's always a record of what I bought should I wantto uninstall something. Many games have cloud saves so I don't lose progress. They have brilliant sales frequently so I can get relatively new games for nearly nothing. There's no limit on how many times I can install a game.

Where's the bad side? Unless you're of the narrow opinion that all DRM is bad. In which case...you need to adjust your perspective a bit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlya In reply to dragon-nexus [2014-09-17 20:06:01 +0000 UTC]

Yes: ALL DRM is bad in a way.

The software you buy through it is NOT your own, it is barely a service provided to you that may or may not be discontinued. The tos they use usually have no lawful basis in the different countries' legislation.

Also, the arguments you presented are NOT pros of DRM, the same could be done WITHOUT DRM.

So that is why I'd rather have DRM free software/books/etc...

Also, regional pricing irks me too.

Y-Yorle In reply to Atlya [2014-09-19 20:45:15 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty sure if you buy The Witcher 3 that you don't legally "own" the game either, even if you have a physical copy. In a way, you just purchase a license to be allowed to play the game. ;D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlya In reply to Y-Yorle [2014-09-20 06:50:16 +0000 UTC]

Not on Gog, no.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Y-Yorle In reply to Atlya [2014-10-02 09:19:33 +0000 UTC]

No, everywhere/way. If you would legally own the game, then you would be allowed to distribute copies of it, no? And as that is not the case you don't legally own the game no matter where or how you buy it, be it physically or digitally, you buy a creative license to be allowed to play the game in homesettings. What I think is that you're mixing up the (legal) terms of DRM and ownership.

On a personal note, I find Steam to actually provide me with freedom rather than restriction, as I have no more need to have a physical copy at home and I can basically play the game on every computer I would be on, no matter where.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlya In reply to Y-Yorle [2014-10-02 11:22:09 +0000 UTC]

The Steam service is practical, yes. No argument from me on that point.

On the other point, I'm an advocate of owning the right to play a game (and not to freely distribute it, compare it to owning a book) you have bought, with no limits be it on time or platform. Which Steam doesn't guarantee because of the way it works.

As for GOG, I'd have to peel off the terms of use document but if we believe the advertisement they make (and they've been known to play on it too, I reckon), "you buy it, you own it", which looks quite clear to me.
