Description Just something that popped in my head after looking at a bunch of videos about Elephant Seals... and thinking if I should somehow pitch this idea to Mr Buddy for a Pokemon Region based off of Antarctica.

Nevertheless, this is an idea I had for a regional variant for Spheal and Sealeo for a hypothetical Antarctica based Pokemon Region. With the gimmick of the final evolution with a Pokemon based off of Southern Elephant Seals as opposed to a Walrus. And as the name of the final evolution implies, Mirungarein is not technically a regional variant of Walrein, but rather a separate evolution in the same vein as Perrserker in Sword and Shield.
(perhaps if I or someone else wants to expand upon this, things like stats and Pokedex entries can be added to this, but for now, here's just some basic notes.

Spheal's variant not too much different save for the colors, the added rocks, misshapen tail-fins and the intentionally enlarged face.

Sealeo not only replaced his mustache with thinner whiskers, but his body, flippers, and frownier face indicate that he's based off of Leopard Seals. This alludes to this evolutionary variant being a bit more fierce and aggressive then their Hoennian counterparts. Which is also explained by the aggressiveness of both real world Leopard Seals and Elephant Seals.

Then comes the gimmick of the split evolutions depending on the gender, the Elephant Seal Pokemon, Mirungarein. First off, the "Mirunga" in their name is a misspelling of the word "Mirounga", the scientific name for Elephant Seal. Second, the split evolution of the male and female Mirungarein is based off of the real world sexual dimorphism of Elephant Seals; that being the males are significantly bigger (and uglier) than the females. Finally, there's the reason why the male becomes a Water/Ground type as opposed to Water/Rock with the rest of the line. It's because it's in reference to how in the real world, the name used to describe the dominant male in a group of Elephant Seals is "Beach Master".

I don't think I've seen a regional variant for the Spheal line around here yet. I like this idea. The elephant seal idea is a neat touch (not really something I see people base their Fakemon on).
