The 'Batpod', a very strange vehicle, not the most redundant considering if the Tumbler's front end is damaged(or the front wheels specifically) no batpod. but hey the rear was hit by an RPG in the movie, no big deal... definably a 'upgrade' or add-on since the first movie. Given the 'batcave' used in the movie is more than likely the testing range seen in the first movie in the Tumbler's test drive sequence, it may have been Bruce's own addition and not one of Fox's prototypes(maybe). A sort of front wheel drive for the Tumbler or an existing set of components that Bruce either himself or with a little 'foxy' help, adapted into what we see finally as the Batpod. That means that the front wheels of the Tumbler had their own motorization system/engine in each wheel.

The weapons are from The Tumbler: given the center 'weapons'/jumping station position is the same as the final batpod position. That and a little extra additions since Begins(grapples).

The real kicker is the linkage(s) that allows both Tumbler and Batpod configurations without compromising both or the one or the other(under 'normal' operations and not in a WAR). It's the farthest 'suspension of belief' in a film that already has a grown man wearing a Kevlar/latex/titanium suit in a rubber bat mask/cowl, facing off against clown faced painted/scarred psychopaths.

Yes, the batpod uses both front wheels of the Tumbler: when it launches he pulls out the front-right wheel.

Plus, it's expelled with a device similar to those installed on fighter jets.

Bye

Fantastic, although it is the 2 front wheels that eject.
