This is the second of two strips originally made for a DW website many months ago, drawn by my talented pal Shawn Van Briesen [link] and wriiten/ colored/ lettered by me. See the first one here: [link]

My "commentary" for this one:

-Like last time, some companions we never knew about get killed off.

-Some folks who've read this asked me what "Gwar" was: [link]

-I love the Gene Hunt-esque number of flasks on #4's person. Nice touch by Shawn there (isn't his art great, btw?). Also note that Tom's swearing like a sailor. I think the idea was that our version of the Fourth Doctor was less like the TV character and more like a hung-over Tom Baker struggling to finish a scene before they turn the lights out in BBC Centre. You know- the one ya see in those outtake reels: [link]

-Doctor Who has contradicted it's own "Laws of Time" about 769 times, and we're obviously poking fun at that. Though Hartnell's "Predestination Paradox" speech is actually me getting on the soapbox a bit. I'm a big fan of Steven Moffat, but not how he uses time travel as a solution to problems (dramatically speaking, it should only get you INTO problems).

-I actually love those bizarre moments in classic Who when people would talk to the camera just for exposition's sake (most famously in Caves of Androzani)- speaking to themselves like crazy people . "Why am I telling you?" is a paraphrase of a line Hedley Lamar has in BLAZING SADDLES making fun of the same kind of thing.

-"Spit-takes". Always comedy gold.

-The First Doctor's imperialist, patronizing, and generally non-PC attitude was something I would've pushed even further in future installments, so that he would've been something of a bastard by the time The Tenth Planet rolled around. Damn shame we didn't get there.

-If you think we were gonna drop the "Mexican TARDIS" gag, you're wrong. The script for the next one (which sadly, Shawn wasn't available to draw) really was called "Los Sensorites" and carried the gag over, adding a Llama and Mexican wrestler (Cody Schell's creation "Senor 105", cameoing from the Iris Wildthyme books) to the TARDIS crew. However, a "retroactive aftershock" from the Time War (yes, there was an 8th Doctor cameo) jolts continuity back into place. This would've been a recurring gag, frequently giving us bat**** insane glimpses of the Time War, always accompanied by the caption, "MEANWHILE, IN THE TIME WAR..."
