Description
Final version of my epic Cybermen homage, now with kickass colors by the great Charlie Kirchoff [link] - star colorist for IDW's various Doctor Who titles.Oh, and Happy Halloween, by the way.
Line art and original comment thread here:
Special nods to Lee Sullivan and Adrian Salmon, as some of their work is heavily reffed here (the REAL TIME Cyberman and the symbol from DWM's "The Cybermen" comic, respectively), as well as the artist who depicted the SPARE PARTS Cyberman and horse for DWM 320 (he wasn't credited, but I'm pretty sure it's DWM regular Martin Geraghty), and of course all the brilliant designers who have contributed to the Cybermen's legacy over their 45 year history...

Now this is the stuff that nightmares are made of. D: Ahhh...! *Dives into a random stranger's arms* Oh...urm...sorry about that....*Ahem* But nonetheless, another great piece. Makes me curious about other titles Mr. Kirchoff has worked on. Anyyyhow, this is another fave for me.

That is amazing. It's really cool seeing the incarnations of the Cybermen over the years. I don't recognize the really tall one on the right though. The one with the triangular light on the chest.

It's taken from doctor who comic series: "the flood", a rather futuristic incarnation of the cybermen.

There is one I don't recognize, the 3rd one from the left (in the back) which looks like a cross between the 10th Planet design and the Moonbase design. Its label says "Deep Space" but I absolutely can't read what's just below that. From which spin-off media is it?

PaulHanley In reply to sunwentai [2012-11-11 01:17:01 +0000 UTC]
Yes, that's from the 4th Doctor era DWM comic JUNKYARD DEMON. It was a long-lost early model Cyberman that was (unwisely) revived by a hapless salvage team.

Thank you so much for the info, it's very much appreciated! Also, I would like to correct what I said about the 4th Cyberman from the left as its design isn't from the Moonbase: it's from Tomb! I do get the two mixed up a lot, so I hope you didn't feel insulted by that. All in all, this is a masterpiece worthy of high praise! With the new Cybermen design coming up for 2013, did you have any plans to make some more art featuring Cybermen?

The tall on with blue lights? It's from a comic called The Flood. They're a futuristic design.

I think I like the earlier ones more, if they could update them, keep the altered human thing i'd be so happy, the newer ones seem too....robotic so they don't have that creepy body horror thing going
maybe i'm just being too picky and I just like the early cybermen stories more

Ah so many classic cybermen in one place. The progression from flesh to metal is excellent. But there is one fellow here I do not recognize. Is that tall one behind the current one you idea for a future cyberman? If so it looks amazing.

If you wanted to go absolutely crazy with the Cyber-designs, The Legend of the Cybermen (Big Finish) has Cyber-Moby-Dick (with torpedoes), Cyber-Valkyries, Cyber-fairies, Cyber-Oliver Twist, Cyber-Dracula, etc...
I admire your deep-delving into the less-obvious designs (IE. the Marinus = Mondas stuff from The World Shapers--I love that comic, being that I'm a Jamie fan).
Brilliant piece of work!
