Now and then I think of when Mario and Pauline were together.
Then, out of nowhere, comes this idea of making another Super Mario parody fanart; just like what I've done with Butch Mario and the Luigi Kid and Super Mario Momotaro. Gotye's Somebody that I Used to Know (please watch the videoclip here ), featuring Kimbra, talks about past relationships that ended in a ridiculously unsettled break up. And when it comes to past relationships, Jumpman and Lady from the classic Donkey Kong (1981) really spring to mind. Nowadays, Mario and Peach are considered by many as a perfect video game couple — but unfortunately, they're not even trying.
This is my first Pauline-related drawing, and it certainly won't be the last one. I hope you like it and leave me a comment — don't make out like it never happened!

I always thought I was the only one who would think of Mario and Pauline's relationship when I heard this song..Im so glad im not the only one..I feel like this song really does fit their situation.

So he might go bananas if he ever finds out that Pauline has been meeting Mario again in recent games... wait... how would Princess Peach feel?

She'd feel the same way Daisy feels about Mario and the same way Rosalina feels about Mario,
and the same way all those other girls from Mario spin-off feels about Mario. Which is pretty much a mess.

Ah, I'm not sure! Maybe Daisy was the one who dumped the plumber. And Rosalina, heck, she couldn't possibly feel anything but friendship! She knows about Mario and Peach's bond since their very beginning. Oh, you overwhelmingly creative DeviantArt users...
But I get the point. Mario is a ladies' man.

Mario has a short term memory loss to not remember the people he actually date and live with.
But yeah, he's been pretty much a ladies man.
Although, I'd consider Luigi to be far more than what Mario is.
Because he's been dressed as a lady, while Mario hasn't.

Hahahaha, I do remember that! And more than once! Luigi crossdresses in the Super Mario Adventures comic and in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Seems to be a good concept!

It's worth to mention that Pauline reappeared in the Mario series for the Mario Vs. Donkey Kong games, complete with a standard, updated new look. I remember when you mentioned not being a big fan of portable gaming, so it's quite understandable that you still haven't felt the privilege of admiring her big... reboot!

...Nor they're allowed to fortify their relationship. I'm still surprised (and slightly glad) that Mario hasn't given up yet.

Of course, that's absolutely understandable. The show must go on. Mario would be a completely different franchise if he actually fortified his relationship with the princess. Pauline, on other hand, was officially his girlfriend back then. After all these years believing in Mario and Peach as an official couple, I feel like trying new, different views on the series. Which one of these couples do you support the most?

I grew up with the fact that I supported Mario and Peach and that's not going to change for a while.
However, if coming clean, I actually support the original relationship that he had with Pauline. Both sides should've given each other another chance and after wtinessing a few scenes from the Mario vs. Donkey Kong, it's slightly implied that Pauline still cares about her former lover. And so does Mario.
