I always found it weird that Silver can go gold in Super Form (assuming all hedgehogs go golden) but Knuckles goes pink, just a lighter shade of his actual fur color.

If you look in the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog, he's Sonic's evil counterpart from an alternate Mobious. He started out looking like Sonic with sunglasses and a leather jacket, before he absorbed some of the power of the Master Emerald, turning him green. His super form apparently is purple.
