Description (The hashtag was for instagram) My username for my business account on instagram is pawthentic_creations if you want to find me.

Yes! I have started doing tutorials and tips on Instagram and thought I should share them with the DeviantArt community also

Today's Tip From PC (PawthenticCreations) is about patterning with duct tape. This is a very important- no, CRUTIAL part to furring your head/feet/ or any part of a suit that requires custom, complicated pattering. This photo shows something that works wonders- but only if your head is symmetrical. I have only duct tapped half of the head, with the exception of the bridge of the nose to avoid seam lumps, because that is all I need. Because my patterns are symmetrical and so is the shape of my mask, this will work by just flipping the patters, as you would a tail. Note: THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOUR HEAD IS NOT SYMMETRICAL. Lopsided or asymmetrically designed heads need full taping! This method of patterning also works with symmetrical ears.

I hope this helps all of you with patterning your masks! Next tip from PC will be pattern labeling- another very important part of furring! If you have any questions comment below. You can also note me, kik me (use name _raincloud_) or find me on instamessage!

Happy fursuiting!

Small question, it seems you use a resin base for this. Where do you buy such bases or do you sell them your self?

question! everyone seems to like the duct tape method for furring patterns, but do you put it directly on the foam? if so, how do you get it off without completely ruining the head? thanks~ (first time fursuiting, sorry. just dont wanna screw up)

Very carefully. Most of the time (depending on the quality of the ducttape) it comes off quite easily. If you are having troubles taking off the tape, you can take your exacto knife to use to scrape the foam off the tape as you pull. I have had to do this a few times before finding a brand I liked.
I hope this helped!!

Actually you do not put the tape directly onto the base! First you put saran wrap on the area you want to tape. Then after the wrap you apply tape.. once done using the tape the wrap will be well shaped and then you just slide it off the base. (Seen a video from the famous monoyasha on youtube ) it works quite well
