Have you ever even read anything by Ambrose Bierce - American war hero ?

No, but have you read anything by Pratchett? I rate him #1 in the list of best writers. Which is also where I put Stephen King. they share the title.

I tried to read Pratchett, it didn't work out, didn't like it, bored me half to madness but I'll give him another chance, perhaps he needs to be read in English, not Bulgarian, I know about the nations of Efeb made to satirise Antique Greece and Ankh Morpork which makes me laugh out loud each time I hear it. As for King he's a damn good writer yes.

But you should read some Bierce me bonny Lad:

Ah, Bulgarian could be a problem. Pratchett is so much more funny in English. His humor is all in the clever wordplay, and I'm not sure how clever it seems when it's in Bulgarian, considering the different sentence structure. Oh, and I thought that Bierce was pretty good. A bit hard to Understand, but, yeah, he was pretty good.

Glad you like Ambrose. I'm gonna give Pratchett a good English read , you're not the only one who is promoting him to me.

Mark Twain's work is not supposed to be dark, its satire

nvzblgrrl [2010-11-21 01:47:01 +0000 UTC]

YES. but think of it this way, if Stephanie Meyer can get published, all those part time writers who work so hard in their grandparent's basement can become rich and famous as well. Thank you, Stephanie Meyer, for lowering the gold standerd.
