Description Stamp Template by Kencho.

Let me just say one thing before this rant. I DO NOT HATE JAPAN. It just isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

(I've never been to Japan-but I've read up a lot of rants, comments, journals, and deviations.)

So the first time that you found anime/manga, you were like, "Cool!" Then, after a few more episodes/chapters, you were like, "Oh my gosh, I wanna be a _____-mangaka, animator, manga story person, etc.-!" So after that, you decided to start drawing, take lessons, save up money to move to Japan, and learn Japanese.
But by the time you get there and you move there, you find out that Japan isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sure, they're pretty smart, with all their technology and crap. And sure, they are all pretty healthly with their gym memberships and they're diets. But the older generation is pretty racist-And they have every right to be. We did all that crap to them way back. And the manga/anime industry is extremely competitive. The salary for almost any job SUCKS . And anyway, most of the time, if you're not Japanese (or just plain Asian) and you want a job in the manga/anime industry, you might as well kiss your Japanese apartment goodbye and get back on that plane. Because no matter how good your skills, if you aren't a native, you probably won't get a job. (XENOPHOBIA! D:)

List of Reasons Why Your General Weeaboo Would Move to Japan
- To enjoy anime/manga more.

-To become a mangaka/animator.

-To learn Japanese.

-To study the 'hentai culture'. [link]

(There are more; I just have to go so I'll list the rest later.)

I love you for making this stamp. I'd love to study there and all since I have actually been there (and not even getting all OMGANIMELAND but getting to know the actual culture), but I know it is not the amazing little wonderland most anime fans think it is. Japan is not a place where you just can burst in and call yourself a famouzzz mahngakuh. If someone is seriously considering it, they need to first, know the reality of Japan, and second, be emotionally and economically prepared to endure the transition. I'm getting ready for some tough stuff :/

You're the one with no life trying to fight the opinions of one person. On a stamp. No one cares.

Every feeling will insult someone else in this world. If not, the world would be emotionless.

I do have a life, and i would spend as much time as I want fighting some retarded stamps.
and the world has much emotion, instead of the hate people should stop being so ignorant and try to do something nice and respect others nomatter how annoying other people may be.
I even had weaboo freind she ranted about pokemon, emo bands, the nyan nyan song, and other bullcrap 24/7 but I never bullied her about and she grew up eventually.

This person only sees the facts. These are the facts.

My ex used to have a friend. He was a raging anime fan, just like you. He went to Japan, thinking he would be loved and praised for being so blatant.
He returned traumatized. He ended up hating anime. He threw his Cardcaptor Sakura merchandise. He threw is hentai magazines away. he cleared his room of everything anime and hasn't come back ever since.

I'll tell you this as someone who will genuinely attempt to study abroad in Japan (and probably MANGA to top it off): Japan is as full of shit as the next country. Sure, it's safe, clean and kinda cool. Sure, the culture is amazing. Sure, it's a wonderful place to be. BUT it is not the amazing perfect little country you think it is.

Picture this: there are no stools, no trash cans in the streets, due to the Sarin incident. The only seat I found in a public place was in Miyajima. Believe it or not, the Japanese don't forget. Bullying is rampant in many schools and, since all of these honor and dignity thingamajiggers are still exremely important, add tiring jobs with shit salaries and extremely high expectations and you'll get that suicide is one of the first causes of death. Some people might tolerate you, but they'll never accept you. They will treat you with respect most of the time yes, but don't expect them to love you and accept you just because you are OMG SUCH AN ANIME FANNNNN. Japanese people are generally also more racist than the person posting this deviation will ever be. The reasons were already stated by the stamp maker. Also, it's incredibly hard for a foreigner to live there. You have to fill out all sorts of stuff and you need to carry an ID at all times. You might not be accepted in certain places, and some restaurants separate foreigners from locals on purpose. If you don't know Japanese and you are in a place that doesn't get much foreigners, you're pretty much screwed.

Also, why would you want to learn Japanese if you're not going to actually use it? LOL

Besides, what's the point of spamming your thoughts in several dfferent messages? You are being really intolerant, only proving that the creator of this stamp is right. People are entitled to love and hate whatever they want. What people are not entitled to is to come to their personal spaces and insult them for having opinions, like most of the people in this stamp (incluiding you) do.

wow thats some major bull shit, you cant tell someone what they can or cant like you racist, if you were obsessing over something i didn't like, i would never go thru the trouble of complaining about it. and if it was japan, manga/anime, you haters cause hatred cults and hell over it. in my opinion would it make you haters happy if japan was erased of this earth, because thats what it seems like by reading alot of you haters comments and judgments towards those people all the time.

I'm not racist. You are for thinking Japan is higher than any other society in this world. No. I have no beef with actual Japan, I have Japanese friends like ~ivonnu , but when you literal freaks just like it for the anime and manga then its not a love for Japan, its a love of cartoons. You just make yourself believe its Japan. Japan isn't all anime and manga.

I'm not an anime fan. Period.

But senseless hatred for no reason is really sad to me. Let people love what they love. Put time and effort into compassion instead of teasing and picking out innocent flaws that (usually) very young people have. They will grow out of it themselves one day. Is it really necessary to ridicule other people over something like anime or manga? I think not. There are bigger issues out there.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Karmillina In reply to asainemuri [2011-09-29 20:28:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand how is this ridiculing anime fans :/ It's just telling a reality.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

asainemuri In reply to Karmillina [2011-09-29 21:26:30 +0000 UTC]

It is ridicule. The statements made in this are not based off of personal experience, so it can't completely be called "a reality". I know several non-Asian people who have become comic/gaming illustrators in Japan. Also several non-Asian people who have become models and the like as well. I've worked in Japan, schooled in Japan, and lived there. There are hoards of foreigners living there and it isn't a big deal at all, especially not racially. The older generation is still war-torn, but most older generations are as well. This is a world issue, not a Japanese issue.

I don't see what's so wrong with kids having a dream to be a manga artist, even if it isn't likely to happen. When I was a kid, I wanted to be an Astronaut/Paleontologist and that didn't exactly go down as planned either. But no one ridiculed me for it.

Let people hope. Enough is enough.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Karmillina In reply to asainemuri [2011-09-29 22:19:26 +0000 UTC]

I don't see what's the problem either, but if people want to reach their dreams, they must first be aware of how hard it is to make them come true; if they really want to do it, they will fight for it. Precisely because I've read success stories of people who have done it (for example, the American assistant for New Prince of Tennis or the Argentinian dude who is actually publishing his own manga in Japan) I think there is a chance of success, BUT all of them state before anything else "it's not easy at all, but that's how it is and I enjoy my work". I am considering studying a master on manga (or design) at Kyoto Seika (and I know the Manga department was expand partly because they want to attract foreign students), but even then, they only accept about 12 students per course, if they are feeling generous. I know what lies ahead for me: hard word, tons of research, frustration, mountains of paperwork, endless hours of practicing and perfecting my portfolio... it won't be easy at all, and all that effort will go only for studying there. I know it because I see the reality of a country that has an already saturated market in sequential arts. Even for the locals it's incredibly hard.

People who really aspire to do it shouldn't insult others for having an opinion that is different to theirs. If they really want to do it, they won't ignore the warnings about the negative stuff, but rather, they'll find a way around them. Every dream has its drawback but ignoring them won't make them come true. Rather, it is good to accept those drawbacks and sort everythign out in spite of them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

asainemuri In reply to Karmillina [2011-09-29 22:44:30 +0000 UTC]

This, I completely agree with. It's important to acknowledge how difficult it will be to achieve these goals. But I feel there's a large amount of insults associated with people who want to get involved in these same careers, even if they come across as less than serious, it seems unnecessary and more like juvenile bullying. As someone who has also experienced being in a photography mechanics class, and worked for a photography company that was 95% native Japanese, which is also a very popular subject and career in Japan, I know how hard it is to get ahead or receive any acknowledgment. There is a reason why the Japanese are driven to the point of madness in their school and work fields -- it's VERY difficult to make it there. Work standards are extremely high. But Japan has also been very warm and loving to me. Personally, I have received worse treatment living in American than I ever did living in Japan. Typically I can experience more rudeness, racism and insults in one week here than I did during the entire duration of years that I lived in Japan. But like every country, it has good and bad points. I just don't think we should start ridiculing and calling kids names just because they want to draw manga as a profession in another country. Good luck to you.
