Description The planet. It looks like in Soderbergh's movie (which I liked) but is inspired by the book by the best Polish sf writer, Stanislaw Lem.

If you like the image, read the book. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful) The only thing i liked in Sordenberg`s movie was the way he made Solaris. It looked kinda creepier.

I want this as a wallpaper. Or something like it. It's so beautiful. Both the book and recent movie were so beautiful.

*Sigh* Beautiful. I loved the idea of the looks of the planet with that strange ocean and the two sun. And the book was awesome, I regret I couldn't read it earlier. It become one of my favourites

The movie was boring, but it made you think. It was kind of like Signs, but better special effects. They didn't even say if Solaris is a planet, star, nebula, pulsar, quasar, black hole, or inteligent subspace sentient-higher-plane-of-existence anomaly.

Fascinating! Very very close to original, You know...

I saw Soderberg's SOLARIS not so long ago...
I have to admit he made DIFFERENT movie (but he said he want to make re-make of our russian movie)...
Different from my favorite classics by Tharkovsky.
Did You saw russian Solaris?

I love new SOLARIS, though...
George & Natasha did a great job.

Thanks! It's close to the planet as seen in the movie. In the book it was orange, not blue. More like fire. I don't know why I made it blue, I suppose I was under the influence of movie. I haven't seen Tharkovsky's movie - it's hardly available, apart of that Stanislaw Lem said that Tharkovsky messed up his book with Dostoievsky

Yeah, You absolutely right about Lem's words on Tharkovsky movie...
Actually, after I saw Thark. movie, read the book and saw Sod. movie I have to admit, that these are 3 different (almoust absolutely different!) pieces of art...
Book is genius sci-fi item, scarry sometimes... But nothing (I think) philosophical... It's ABOUT PLANET.
Tharkovsky's movie is very self-contemplative, meditative piece. Hard philosophy, questions of humanity, etc. It's ABOUT PEOPLE.
Soderberg's re-make is ABOUT LOVE...
These pieces got different accents. But I'm very glad, tha I read the book and saw both movies. It's worth to do that, believe, since Lem's book is brilliant classics of sci-fi.
