Description Another PoM for .

The shading is smoother in person, but the photo looks alright. This piece didn't really come out how I wanted it to, anyway. Click here to see my other Lickitung artwork done in colored pencils!

Made with Prismacolor Premier markers and Prismacolor inking pens.

Anyway, I really like your art! I've never been able to do backgrounds traditionally in color, I'm always too afraid my markers will die hahaΒ

What type of markers are you using? I use Prismacolor markers, and I really recommend thin papers to save ink. This particular piece was done on Strathmore 300 Series Sketch paper . It's so thin that you can lay it on the page of a book and read through it, but that also allows me to transfer sketches to it easily and it takes very little ink to color on. Give it or another very thin paper a try if you haven't already! Saves me a fortune on ink while still blending and layering nicely. I also use the heavier Strathmore 400 Series Sketch paper a lot.

Oh wow, that's some cool paper! Usually I just use CRAYOLA washable markers on printer paper haha
They're more useful then they seem at first glance.

Peachfuzz In reply to legendfromthedeep [2014-04-26 01:12:40 +0000 UTC]

Totally. I learned every marker skill I have with Crayolas. Used them for yeeeeeeeeeears before ever getting alcohol-based markers, and I recommend them to everybody who wants to learn to use markers. It's been over a decade now since I switched to Prismas, so I don't recall much about ideal papers for Crayolas, but it's worth a shot with any type of marker to try new papers. The Strathmore Sketch papers have a surface texture very similar to regular printer paper, but they're a little tougher and usually brighter unless you have that really fancy extra bright-white printer paper. The Strathmore Sketch papers are fairly inexpensive for art paper, too.

My pleasure. You already have the most important things... Skill and imagination. Keep messing with papers to see what works best for you and uses the least ink.

Unlike before this has a very strong character contour.
I really like the way that is done the cracked ground.
The shading and coloring is also excellent.

I love the title words for some reason. and on this art, I think the dry earth with much cracks looks good. and then I'm worried the long tongue and throat dry quickly in this dry region.

Peachfuzz In reply to Nekomarunosuke [2013-10-01 23:09:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for commenting! "Long shadow time" is sometimes used to describe the time right before sunset, when even the shadows of tiny things are conspicuous. I imagine that a creature like a Lickitung, living in the desert, would only come out late in the day and at night when temperatures are cooler. A lot of desert animals are like that.

Ahh, this is so pretty. ; A ; I love the pretty shading and lightning, and if the scanner chopped it, then I can't even imagine what it looks like in real life! I love the scenery - it's so cool and it's really cretaing an atmosphere, without taking away the attention from Lickitung. I love it lotsss.

Peachfuzz In reply to Yakalentos [2013-10-01 05:51:21 +0000 UTC]

Ohhhh you have made me so incredibly happy with your fav and awesome comment. <3 Thank you! I originally wanted to do an intense skyscape all full of crazy, colorful clouds, but I don't have the skill yet and I worried about distracting too much from the Pokemon. I'm glad that it worked out.

Hopefully it'll stop raining and give me some sunlight tomorrow so I can take a good photo of this to replace the choppy scan.

I'm glad you appreciate my comment! And I think that was a good decision. Colourful clouds can be cool, but Lickitung is always cooler. :u

I hope so too!
